English Mastiff or Boerboel

Trying to decide whether I will get a Boerboel or EM. The boerboel is the dog I like best. Either way it would be my first dog of this kind. The EM seems like less of a liability to me but I really want to own a Boerboel and would plan on investing in professional training from as young of an age as possible. Thoughts on either way? I would love to hear why someone likes one of these breeds more than the other. I kind of suspect whichever breed I go with, that I will likely own the other one as the next dog in my lifetime.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
I like both, we were looking into the boerboel but then descided on the csne corso.
What i did was spoke to people that owned the breed, if possible travel and meet some dogs.if you need a trainer get a good one and one thats got knowledge with mastiffs.

What made you decide on a corso over the boerboel and why not the English?

In the end it came down to the dogs id met, the cane corso just stood out to us, we go rural camping, there athletic, loyal, gaurding which comes natural. They have to be raised properly, ours are highly trained, very much a part of the family. You cannot get one and not put the time into them.
The english mastiff is a great breed but over here in the uk isnt where id get one, theyve been bred to where the poor things cant function, too much on the wrinkles and loose skin.

Best option would be the Boerboel's genetic and behavioral equivalent, the Cane Corso.
Between strictly these 2 the English Mastiff is somewhat better.
