Exercise for 10/12 Week Old Puppy

Hi-

I have a very energetic Dogo at home. I am not 100% sure how much exercise she should be getting each day.

She gets 2 and 2/3 cups of food, and we do two 15-20 minute walks a day, and 30-60 minutes free play/roam/run each day (sometimes more if she desires and I have extra time). The walks are on a dirt/gravel road, at a slow pace.

I just do not want to stress her joints at all, and even with this amount of exercise, she is still very on the go, ready to keep playing, etc.. I would like to tire her out a bit more but do not want to harm her!

Thanks!

I would do about 10 minutes a few times a day of training excersizes too...make it lots of fun with treats...the training excersizes the mind along with the body and poops them out ;P

You should try "thinking" exercises with the dag Make puzzles for the dag to figure out with treats as the reward. For example I would hide a treat under a box and get Molli to drag the box until the treat would come out. Think of creative things like this. I made a little obstacle course for her. I found this to be a great "low impact" exercise that would keep her entertained.

I am surprised that you can get very far. We get three houses down and my pup lays down to take a nap. I end up carrying him home. I am getting more exercise than he is. Lol.

Puppies need less exercise than you might think, even though they can seem full of energy! Some breeders suggest 5 minutes of exercise per month of age – so a maximum 15 minute walk outside for a 12 week old puppy. This timeframe doesn't include time spent playing and running around in the house.
