Fila Brasileiro Breeders??

When I said they were the same in that respect, I literally meant only in that respect. I understand that the fila and the APBT are different, but with both you always have to be watchful, have to adjust your life to meet their needs, have to cater to it's temperment. No matter what anyone says, a pit has to be watched around animals, and a fila has to be watched around people. In both cases, the OWNER has to take responsibility for preventing mishap. That's what I meant.

I purchased a Fila Mastiff 11/25/2012 from Luis Yanez of Filas Lionsden.. The breeder told me that the pup had already had his first 2 set of shots and all he needed was his last set. At the time I was told the puppy was only 14 weeks old. 11/27/2012, I took the puppy to the vet to due a complete exam. The vet tells me according to the pup canine he is only 9 weeks old. Also the shot recorded provided by the breeder only shows that the pup has received the parvo shot. I did not know that when I left the breeder because the shot records were in Spanish. Anyways I thought to my self my this is going to be a big dog. 1 week passed everything is good I stayed in contact with the breeder because they had been late in getting me the AKC registration paper worker. At the time we spoke I did mentioned what the Vet told me about the shot record. Finally, after a week in a half the AKC registration paperwork comes in the mail. The pup is doing well and is very playful with my 2 other dogs both are 2 years old. Week 2 Monday morning I walk up stairs to let the pup and my 2 year old English bulldog out of the kennel. I get up stairs and see my old English is ready to go, no problem but I still see the pup sleep. I am thinking this is odd, normally he is up and jumping. I take a closer look I see his not sleeping but dead. I don't move I call the breeder right away. I tell the breeder what has happened. She asked me a series of questions. I answer all and we can't understand why he is dead. She advise me to contact my vet and she will do the same. Now at this point I am sad and also upset and thinking what just happened. I payed $ 1,500.00 just 2 weeks ago from the breeder and now the dog is dead. I later dispose of the puppy.I talk to my vet they have no idea. I contact the breeder to discuss how is it my puppy dies after me only have him for 2 weeks and my 2 years dog are still in perfect health. The breeder gives me the cold shoulder and says when the puppy left us he was in good health there will be no refund or no replacement dog. I tell the breeder your website says your dogs come with a health guarantee. Also on the website it says they dogs live on average for 8-10 years. I told them the dog you sold me died in 2 weeks for no reason and I did my part to insure his health and my vet record will reflect that. Again cold shoulder. What do I do?

The purchase contract states under health Guarantee.

To the Best of my knowledge the above dog is in good health and has no congenital defect and or hip dysplasia. the dog must be take to your veterinarian for a check up within 24 hours of you taking ownership of the above dog. if the vet finds the above dog in poor health, then that vets report stating the health problems must be submitted with this contract in order to arrange for a replacement of the dog, from either its litter or a future litter. The dog can be replaced if any serious illness occurs during the first three(3) months, with the exception of crippling dysplasia with in the first two(2) years of life. No refunds will be returned . Buyer must follow a proper vaccinations schedule. Buyer must notify breeder with in 24 hours if the dog should become ill. Breeder will not be responsible for any vet bills. The dog is guaranteed to be a breedable prospect and have show potential.

Ok, forgive me if I am wrong but what happend to " the dog can be replaced if any serious illness occurs during the first three months. Serious illness. I wonder does DEATH qualify?

I have heard of a lot of problems with Lionsden. I don't know how to help you but you are not the first to have problems with this kennel.

I made the mistake of going to Luis at Lions Den and was out 2k within few months.....The female I purchased had a horrible mange (genetic) and I asked him to replace......his words were "you must learn to live with".......told him to shove it up his ass................that was the last Fila for the time being.......

have an opportunity to get a female from Alex' stock before he left for Alaska.......she's about 20 month's old and is a working Fila with no issues at this time.....

will see......

I'm sorry for your loss and agree with Dogman. I cant say their a bad breeder but I've heard enough to know I would never consider them. I dont know if there even is a akc fila

Knowing what I do know about Filas (& it's not all that much) I found several flaws within that man's website when I checked it out. At a first glance to an untrained eye it looks legit but once I started digging around I couldn't stop finding things that came off to me as wrong.

I am so sorry for the loss of your pup. I can't even fathom paying all that money to just lose the dog 2 weeks later. If it were me, I'd find a way, no matter what it was to put him on blast to anyone & everyone. He deserves to be put out of business.

First red flag is the big pictures of the neo mixes with the huge V lips. And some of them dogs are just way to big. I thought Kona was big but they have some big ass dogs and not just tall

yea, no kidding. sometimes cheaters hide in plain site, the more obvious they make themselves the more people seem to be o.k with it...boggles the mind.

there is a way to get "AKC" papers on any breed or even on any mutt for that matter. I forget what it is called but they are not really AKC papers but rather a way to start a new breed with a registry keeping all the stud book info. this way you have pedigrees and full stud book registry but its more for informational sakes. you wouldnt be able to show those dogs at formal AKC shows though.

If the AKC wont recognize the Fila, why would they allow you to "create" a fila? God forbid some fool ever waters them down and gets them into the akc. That would be the death of the breed.

Brace yourself you know it will happen......I think the CC might be first though........

It already happened with the CC in the AKC and it has already happened with the Fila Brasileiro in the FCI... you see it multiple times with judges caressing the nuts of adult males and "whitening the teeth" of adults as well at FCI shows. the dogs only need to show some sort of protective side at their championship and at that point it can be a trained reaction.

I saw a few adds for filas in Mexico. The ad said make sure its well bred so that you get one with a mild temp.
