We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

First day at forever home.

No problem, sorry for the short response, it was late. He is doing good, need some more leash training, he doesn’t like his collar messed with much. We are making progress though. You were right, they grow so fast.

That sounds familiar. Just keep working on it. They all learn it eventually. We switched to a harness at some point while working on lose leash walking. I had not been a fan of harnesses, but it did work well in the end. My wife is still using it when she walks Bane to have additional control, but he does walk well on his collar, too.

Thanks for asking, he is doing great. He splintered a toe nail over the summer. He was limping around for about a week. I looked and looked all over for the reason, finally I found it. It was pretty bad. The nail looked fine, but a hair line crack ran the length of the nail. We trimmed it up, and all better. He is 31 inches at the shoulder, and guessing 140 pounds he will be 9 months on Sept 29. He is very laid back, his eating habits are typical mastiff, days he barely wants to eats then other days he gets very excited about dinner time. He loves his chew toys and it’s quite comical. He will destroy a xtra large raw hide then come show you what he has achieved. Sorry been so busy with a new position at work, I hardly get on the forum anymore.

What a great photo and boy does he look giant in this one. <3
It’s almost an optical illusion. His head being closer to the camera and all. He is getting bigger, but that picture is hard to believe. I didn’t alter it in anyway though. Thx for the compliment.

Gus is filling in nicely! Looks like he's fiercely protective too!
Well, Gus is still lacking in the protective department. He will gruff a little then make some space between him and whatever he is gruffing at. Maybe he will come into some watch dog abilities soon, of course he still isn’t 10 months old yet. Thanks.

Lol, an English Mastiff will surprise you. They seem so docile like they wouldn't hurt a fly. And they are gentle giants. But I bet he watches. If ever there was a real threat, you would probably see a whole new side of Gus! I love E.M. they are usually so balanced and even tempered, and also protective. He's beautiful!

I agree with April. While genetics and temperament play a big role, I still believe that almost every EM will show guarding ability to some extent. Bane is now 14 months, and we have started seeing it in him. He‘s totally gentle, calm, and great with people, but whenever an unfamiliar person accesses the house (e.g. technician), you can tell that he first goes into protection mode. He would never do anything, but you can tell that he is alert, and his bark is very intimidating (he rarely barks at all). Many people say that the true nature often does not show until 2-3 years of age.
Regardless, Gus looks great. As stated before, he definitely is going to be big.
