Hello I have a 18 month old male cane corso and spring is around the corner , does our Diesel
require a flea collar . Thank-you in advance

Personally, I don't care for a flea collar. I don't feel they are very effective and I've known far too many dogs that ended up with skin issues from the collar. If fleas are a problem in your area, then I suggest a topical or one of the internals that cover both heartworm, fleas, and intestinal parasites. Get something good, not Hartz or BioSpot. Lot of bad reactions reported with those products.

I'm not a fan of the collars, either. I like the oil-spot-ons... I only use them as needed (my area has a low bug population, not warm enough here in Seattle) and I rotate to whatever the vet is recommending for the given year. Over-use of some of the cheaper petstore versions has led to populations that are immune to them in some places.

Here in PA, it is often "tick heaven." I would avoid the collars that, as the song says, "can rub a dog's neck raw." The drops down the back once a month are a regular thing around here with my two doggies. Have a great day. Pic is Coal jumping for the Frisbee, which I don't do anymore for his hips sake. grasp 9.jpg

Yes, I concur with the other members. Go to your vet and order the treatments. I'm using two that work together, and have to be given alternately. Protecting Diesel will cost a bit, but the peace of mind is so worth it.

Picture of a blue heron in the swamp near our home. Early morning for sure, and lots of spider webs. And...doing some mind reading...glad you like the picture !!

Thanks for liking the picture. It did win a place in the CNB Calendar Contest--I think I was April (no, not Miss April). I just got lucky while walking the dogs at Sandy Beach Recreational Park. I asked my walking friend Perry to hold the dogs back about 20 feet, and I snuck around the bushes until I had a clear view of the swamp....and lo and behold, there stood the blue heron. There was just enough dew and fog to make the air misty and the spider webs coated ....probably once in a lifetime. Thanks again. You know yourself the number of times you wished you had a camera with you when you saw something amazing....and that early morning....well, I had the camera. Pic -- Grandson Joshua with Mr. Chev, the lovey dovey dog. What a face on that dog!!!002.JPG

Your grandson has marvelous hair! I'm serious. What kind of camera did you take that heron picture with? It really is a most excellent photo.

I think I had my Nikon digital.....I used to be a film guy, and was fairly decent using film and making a few bucks with my cameras (photographed about 800 weddings). The problem was, the camera became like a bed when one can't sleep..you get to hate the thing. I gave up on personal, enjoyable picture taking until recently (when I stopped the professional stuff.) Anyway, I suppose anything can be like that ..... a job is a lot different than having fun. Anyway, I have a "sort of small" non-DSLR Nikon that I carry with me at times. I also have a large Pentax DSLR and I used the 300 mm lens for the cardinal picture, on the recent post, "A Few Pictures." Anyway, I just have those two cameras now, and I seldom dig out the DSLR (one looks through the same lens that takes the picture instead of a view finder) because it is like carrying a bowling ball...not quite that heavy, but noticeably uncomfortable, my "well-known" friend. Thanks again for the compliment on the pics and the grandson's hair. He is a curly thing, for sure. Have a great day! I'll post a few more pics sometime soon since you appreciate my modest attempts! Here's a pic of a 6 spot dragonfly in flight at the same swamp where the blue heron stoodDragonfly 1 less quality.jpg .....

I will keep a secret about how many times I clicked at that dumb dragonfly until, after much messing around, I got this pic.

I tired taking a picture of a hummingbird on my back deck....I set the camera to take the picture at 1/500th of a second, and guess whose wings were still a blur--phew those birds do flap !!

And guess what.....I went from "senior member" to "member" to "active member". The fun never stops, does it. Are you, Boxer Girl, a devotee of Gandhi ??
