Been a long while since I last typed up an introduction. Let me see if I can get the breaks for the paragraphs to work....
So hello there community! To get the basics out of the way, my name is Megan Joy, and I'm a 20 year old college student majoring in Animal Science. At the moment the end goal is to become an AI Technician, but that may change.
While I 'technically' don't personally own any dogs, I am no stranger to them. Both my mother and I are practically dog crazy! I can't even remember a time when our house was without the presence of a dog. From Labs to mixed breeds, and from the intelligent Australian Shepherd to the independent Great Pyrenees. Dogs have been, and are, an important part of my life.
Which brings me to the reason why I joined this forum. I'm very seriously considering being a (semi)first time dog owner-- and I would like my first dog to be from a reputable breeder(there are several reasons other reasons as to why). Of course it will be a couple years before I'm able-- both financially and geographically.
The trouble is, I'm not sure which breed would be suitable for me. I've researched, albeit lightly, on several breeds, but I have specific questions that I'm not sure where I can find the answers to. Basically, I'm not 100% certain where to begin.
And that's why I came here! I'll be making a proper thread a bit later, and hopefully I put it in the right section of the forums.
With that I thought I'd share a couple pictures of the family dogs.
This is our Lhasa Apso Latte, he's about 6 if I remember right, and the grumpy one of the household. (This is an old picture, but the only one I have right now. The other two are Skye and Bear, both deceased.)
This here is miss Nevi(or Nev-Nev) who is 2 now. She's 1/2 Newfoundland, 1/4 Pyrenees, and 1/4 Bernese. So far everyone we meet has been able to guess the Newfie part, or they guess that she's a Flat Coated Retriever.
Nevi--1 year
Nevi--2 year
And finally, the newest addition, is my mother's boy, Gunner. He's 4 months right now and a Great Dane/Mastiff mix.
Well, that's a lot longer than I originally intended. So, thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope to speak with you all very shortly.
