I love crates for several reasons, but most of all because they are the individual dog's own "home" and happy place.
To make the crate a better place to be, always feed your dog in her crate. Give her treats in her crate. Let her understand that her crate is hers and it is a safe place for her to sleep and retreat to when she needs a break.
Crates are super-useful when traveling because they allow your dog to retain that since of "home" and allow for easier transitions.
Your dog is still a pup and is still going to test her boundaries. Be firm with the sleeping in the crate and in the meantime make it a comfy and nice place. She'll get used to it.
