I just got my beautiful male ddb Beau. Finally after a year of waiting I have found my little bud. He is about to turn 12 weeks old and I am as happy as can be with him :D even when he wakes me up at 4 am :p. My family and I have had quite a number of large dogs from lab, Rottweilers, to fila brasileros but beau will be MY first dog and my first bordeaux. Lovin every minute of it. :D

Since this is your first DDB, be aware that socialization and training is key for a DDB. Start major socialization after the 2nd or 3rd round of shots.

DDB's are extremely stubborn and independent. To train them requires consistency in training with motivational rewards (find a food or toy that he loves). DDB's can feel your feelings. If you become impatient, he will feel it and stop listening to you. When you become impatient, walk away and take some deep breaths.

DDB's do not do well with yelling, screaming or hitting (I'm not saying you hit Beau), this too will cause them to shut down on you.

DDB's are wonderful dogs but require extra socialization, consistency in training and they need to know you've got it.

Than you guys! We both smoother each other's faces with kisses. ^_^ Musicdeb thank you for the advice, I have been researching a lot on dog training and I learned about the dog clicker and reinforcement training. As for the socialization he has a friend here at the house that goes by the name of Buddha (French bulldog) but I will also be taking him out to parks with my girlfriends 6 month old Rottweiler. I'll be updating you guys with pictures as we all grow together. :D

Congrats! Love the "selfie" pic, when he's bigger, try and recreate the same picture, makes for a great comparison :)

And since no ones mentioned it yet I'll chime in, it's best to wait until Beau is at least 18 months old before neutering, that way all his hormones and testosterone will help him grow naturally (pups neutered early tend to grow too tall and lanky and have more health issues in the long run).

Take lots of pics, they grow crazy fast!

Oh, my goodness, another cuteness. I said that Bailey would be my last dog, but all these super cute DDB's could change my mind. Keep posting pics....he's so adorable...so is his pal Buddha. The pictures will almost take themselves. Oh, and I love Kujo's idea about trying to recreate that picture as the little guy grows. Welcome.

well done. They are a cool dog with a cool personality and massive heart. We have just had ours for over a year now and her personality gets better and better. This is a great website for advice as well so just ask any questions and you will get a lot of knowledge back
