Hi from Langley, BC!

We have been looking to add a Cane Corso to our family for a while now, but every time the stars are just not aligning properly. I guess it's like finding a spouse: when it's meant to be, it will happen... We are open to adoption and purchasing. Hope to be sharing news about our new canine family member soon!

I agree the right dog is worth waiting for! Just make sure you research the breed and lines well as there are some that are not doing great things up here for the breed and there are some diamonds in the rough if you look for them :)

Welcome! and i commend you for waiting till it is the right time to get a dog. I wanted a CC so badly for a year, but I waited until I found the right breeder, I had the right home, and a few grand set aside. It was so worth it in the end!

I hope the stars align for you and your family soon! You picked an amazing breed btw. Ive had my CC for 8.5 months now and I am now a CC addict.

Welcome from Calgary and another CC addict. I urge you to really research the breed and breeders, you may want (and I suggest) to look outside of your direct area as well. I know a great woman on the Island that is an awesome resource for CC in the area. If you are interested pm me and I will send you her info to contact her. Welcome to the forum!

We have been looking anywhere within a driving distance, but have not considered Vancouver Island yet, I guess since we have not come across any breeder names located out there. I will definitely send you a message. Thanks! The two breeders we were considering around here are: Canadian Cane Corso in Chilliwack and Redwood Cane Corso in Power River. The first dame went into heat, but could not get pregnant, the second one decided to skip her heat this time all together. That's what I mean when I say the stars just would not line up. It was not meant to be with either one. Our dog is out there somewhere waiting for us.

I believe that Redwood has since placed several of their dogs so I am not certain that you will get a dog from that kennel any time soon. I don't know much about Canadian Cane Corso but I would not limit myself by just looking in your immediate area. Visiting the kennel is always nice but the reputable breeders here in Canada are few and far between so I wouldn't rule out some of the states below you or shipping from any of them. In the end just be sure to research anyone you are leaning towards.

I would not go to Canadian Cane Corso. There are many reason's for me, but the one I would say here is that their female, a dilute fawn has glaring disqualifying faults in the Canadian and European standards and should not be in a breeding program. If you look at her eyes, her inner lids have no pigment that is called bilateral palpebral depigmentation. That is a pigment issue, it could very well be compounded by breeding her to their male as he is a dilute as well, leading to other health and skin issues. (the blue CC is a dilute of black). Also I do not see any official health testing, they are not showing or working their dogs. Having 2 CC in one's yard is not a reason to breed IMO. And to be honest, any one that uses the term rare when referring to color in the CC is doing so as a sales pitch. Redwood Cane Corso is going through a rough time, they are currently rehoming dogs that are not in the best condition. Again they do not show or work and no official health testing has been completed on their dogs. These of course are just my opinions, but if you are going to spend the money on a Corso that these people are charging then go with a breeder who is reputable and will back you up and give you the lifetime support you should get. Choosing a breeder is just as important as choosing your pup :)
