Hello,
I was wondering how to go about researching lines and pedigrees, particularly of DDBs. While I'm interested in parents and grandparents, etc. I am more interested in lines of DDBs and what health problems, body types, longevity, and personalities are typically produced and characteristic of certain lines/kennels. I know a breeder's page is a good place to start but I am more interested in third party assessments, as self-assessments tend to be bias. Any advice on where to look for this information or other resources I could use in learning? It would be greatly appreciated.
The reason I ask this is I would like to do some SERIOUS homework before I buy again. While Castle is my life’s joy I am now convinced that I bought him from a BYB. As far as BYBs go, he was “pretty goodâ€, but perhaps misleading. The dogs were in excellent condition and well cared for. All of the BMs were well socialized and good-looking dogs, but I don’t think that he showed his dogs like he led us to believe or had any advanced health testing done, like he said. He did call about a week after we brought Castle home but he has never returned any other communications since. Compared to the breeder that we had seen a few hours before we saw Castle, he was elite. The other breeder was barely removed from a puppy mill. But this is all hindsight now.
