I don't know what to do

My beautiful mastiff Bill has taken to chewing his legs and butt, no matter what I do I can't seem to relieve the itching that is causing him to do this. It's horrible I have tried apple cidar vinegar, flea baths and sprays, baking soda rinse and nothing seems to help. Any Ideas?

Have you tried changing his diet? It could definitely be food allergies...it could also be a mental thing...try stimulating toys...

As of right now we have him on Nutro and supposedly it's oneof the best (other than Eagle Pack) but this all started when it got hot and the fleas came out I am hoping that it's the fleas but I didn't really thing to see if it was a food allergy.

First up, are you sure he's not just cleaning, mastiff types often make a lot of noise and fuss when cleaning themselves, in comparison to tother dog breeds, due to the big jowls, if it's more than just cleaning don't let it get too far before seeing a vet.

OH he sure is a loud cleaner, but unfortunately no it's not just cleaning; he's going to town on his legs and butt and it's getting really bad. It's just so humid and hot outside and these darn fleas are eating him alive and he's started eating himself up... I hate it.

I would give switching his food a shot. I used to feed Ethel Nutro when she was a pup. Turns out she has a horrible allergy to grains (which presented itself as chronic ear infections). I feed Taste of the Wild now, and I actually feed her a lot less than I used to with Nutro. Less poop too.

Also try treating your yard, house and rub down the dog with diatomaceous earth. It did wonders on the flea problem I recently had. And I've been putting it in the dogs' food too, as it seems to have various health benefits, one of them being a natural dewormer. I've actually been taking it myself, and it's done wonders for my bad knee and achy joints.

I recently tried a new flea/tick med called vectrad (from the vet) as one of my dogs was chewing his tail and rear constantly to and flea baths weren't helping much. He stopped chewing himself and scratching. I only had to apply it once and it has lasted for weeks. He had a few spots his hair and thinned out from the chewing and that all grew back in. Even seems to repeal mosquitos.
