  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

I feel a bit twisted for doing this...(warning - disturbing images - for some)

So I ordered the dogs a present and it came today. I'm excited and sickened at the same time. Just call me a sicko, I don't care lol. Meat is meat..

Are they rabbits????

The huge blocky ones are rabbits and I think I ordered the 4-5lb ones and the white fat looking packages are actually guinea pigs..and they are all white lol. I think they are only 2 lb max I can't remember. It's very weird. They look like cats in bags and in my freezer. It's so weird because I'm used to packaged plucked chicken that comes with no head or feet...

Max can have a rabbit if only he catches it first! He'd spend a few minutes firguring out that it isn't going to kill him...then he'd spend the next few minutes wondering "where did he go?" I have no worries about the bunnies around here. LOL

I've eaten rabbit, never guinee pig, but isn't that something people eat in Peru? Either way I say lucky dogs for getting to try it

I agree, rabbits are not uncommon, but guinea pigs are a bit different. Would you have to skin them yourself? Do you feed them whole or in parts? Raw or cooked?

Feed them whole and intact. I have considered rabbits a few times but I remember as a teen we raised them and for food and they were disgusting. Maybe my mom's BF just didn't do it right but it seemed like too much work.

They are to be fed whole raw (prey model raw). I bet Hector would not know how to deskin one and the only one that would know how to deal with a whole animal is the old bitch. Everything is included, nothing has been removed. I would like to raise meat rabbits, but I don't have the room. It would be nice if my dogs could hunt their own food, but not now maybe some day. I'm going to wait for a sunny day and feed it to them. I might hide them somewhere and tell them to find it. I might share some videos (yes - continued sickness).

Actually rabbits are very tasty and usually my father in law hunts then making meatballs out of them. He always caution us in not to heat it in the microwave in case the metal bullets from the gun might explode. :)

I was in the Save-A-Lot grocery store this weekend and saw rabbit in the freezer section but it was de-skinned and presumably gutted. They also have goat cubes, which we're trying next week.

Freezer full of cats!!! lol. That was weird to look at first thing this morning before seeing what they were.
For those of you feeding rabbit, are you feeding it with the fur or without? I feed without but that is due to my use of wild rabbit I hunt and don't want to risk bringing fleas or other fur parasites home with the meat so I always skin them in the field. I'm curious how the dog reacts to the fur, and how they like the G pigs.

Some one messed up somewhere brother. Rabbit done right is an absolutely delicious experience. Taste depends on type of rabbit, what it was raised on for food, how it was treated, and how it was handled at butchering time.
A huge thing is not overcooking it. There is no fat in rabbit so it is super easy to dry it out. Bacon helps, but then again, bacon helps with anything :)

What's weird with wild rabbits is Cotton tails are much milder and better tasting than Jacks, but my last Boerboel only ate cotton tail because it was all she was going to get that meal. With Jacks she would dive into the cooler after them when I brought them in from a hunt. She absolutely loved that stinky dark meat.

Oh I love the taste of rabbit but am no fan of jacks due to the amount of parasites I find on them. For wild rabbit it is bunny or nothing. We raised those large white feeder rabbits and they tasted fine but the mess was just maddening.

Very sad and disappointing. Now what the hell do I do with the rest of my package??? These dogs are high maintenance! Maybe the guinea pigs have a smell to them?? I can't believe the female didn't dive in. Now what to do......I can't find anyone here that feeds their dog raw. Maybe they'll like rabbits more??

Can't watch the videos at work, but did you cut the guinea pig open? If he sees the meat/blood/organ then he might have abetted idea as to what it is for.
