Nope. Never. They need to pass up this litter, and save until they have the full amount in order to get a puppy then in my eyes. If you can't afford to fully pay for the dog, then you will not be able to afford the dog down the line (emergencies, shots, etc). They are on a wrong track financially, and I wouldn't get involved in it.

I havent asked for a deposit and have actually even refused them. There is a list and first call gets the next pick (after my own and breeders picks) and when the pups are ready to go I start calling people. if they cant get the pup within a few weeks then it goes to the next person, etc. but that is when payment is due.
