Too many. We run a preservation for the medium-sized native Japanese breeds, so our dog count changes almost monthly due to puppies and adults coming and going. I also have some hunting dogs.

As far as big dogs go, we have a Caucasian Ovcharka, Boz/Kangal, Boerboel, Tosa, and Dogo.

Thank you. I got Taskin from a friend of mine who has imported several dogs from Turkey. Taskin is actually Boz Shepherd x Kangal cross out of a male he imported from Boz Kennel and a female he imported from Sivas province.

can you explain your mean please? is he purebred?

Taskin's father is a Boz Shepherd (imported from Turkey) and his mother is a Kangal (also imported from Turkey). Here in the US there are very few Boz Shepherd, so the Boz Shepherd club currently allows for Boz/Kangal crosses to be registered as foundation stock. So that is what Taskin is.

She is big now, but she still acts very much like a puppy. :)

Man, I love your dogs. Your dogo is just fearless!
Thanks!

Unfortunately I will have to put Caz (my dogo) to sleep. :(

He has a malformed jaw and a terribly overshot bite. This is causing his lower teeth to penetrate his upper soft palate (which will get worse as his adult teeth grow in). It's also making it hard for him to eat, so he is losing weight. I'm heart broken by it.

Whoa how did that happen? Was it an injury? I'm sorry to hear that...

I remember you saying you were sending him back, then you were keeping him but getting a 2nd. I didn't know it was that bad :(

Yea, we were hopeful that it would improve with time and we could get around having to have him PTS... But it's actually gotten much worse, so now it's a matter of what is best for him in the long run.

Took Sakura to Breckenridge today for some socialization. She did amazing - she met tons of dogs, kids, and people. Also some horses. I'm really very pleased with her temperament so far.

I don't think we're familiar. I'm really sorry about your pup Caz. This birth defect, what happens if it goes untreated? Can the dog still live a normal life? Can the teeth be clipped, as in trimmed?

In some cases the lower canines can be pulled, but in Caz's case, due to the way his lower teeth have grown in, that is not an option.

I'm guessing he eats mush. I take it nothing can be done, i'm really sorry. Can't begin to imagine how hard it must be.

Poor pup, it's never easy for the dog or the human.
