  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

My boy is lame, vet believes it's ACL tear. :(

Well, we're doing okay, thanks, CR.

I will find out today whether he has any tick disease, causing his lameness.

Pics. Okay, I'll dig some up later. :)

How is handling his activities being cut back? I know you two were always out walking and playing.

Hope you are doing well and lots of extra yoga for you to release your stress.

Blood tests were negative- no tick disease. Which, I suppose I should be thankful, but I was hoping for, I don't know, a concrete diagnosis, and a simpler fix. :(

On the other hand, I just spoke to the owner of a local pet shop whose Neo died after complications from Lyme disease...and it wasn't pretty.

CR- yeah we have had to drastically reduce our wanderings out and about, which sucks. Just short walks, or just sitting and watching the world go by (which, he actually loves to do, so it's not all bad.)

I could whine about it all-- like "Why didn't this happen during the hot summer days when all he wants to do is lie around anyway?", or "What happens when it starts snowing and he going to want to RUN and be a maniac?"

But, I have to look at the big picture, his future health. Which means our world will become much smaller for awhile. He needs time to heal, lots of time... I am hoping by spring he will emerge a much stronger boy, ready for action. :)

Somebody who has been through this is helping me toe the line, which is so great...(I'm looking at you, AB!). Support is helpful, because...

...did I mention how much this sucks?!

And yoga is happening, as much as I can swing it.

That and the occasional bit of alcohol...

Oh, a few recent pics: IMG_2467.jpg IMG_2489.jpg IMG_2492.jpg

First one is a selfie. Even though I hate the idea of selfies...I was just in a mood, LOL.

Next two is Mateo enjoying an indoor project: breaking down a huge box for me . He's so helpful.

I'm supper happy that it is not one of the tick diseases. Those can be really nasty.

You and Mateo can do this. Have you tried talking to him(seriously) before ya'll go out for a walk and explain to him that it is going to have to be short so he can get better. Okay, i don't believe that Cane completely understands me but he senses the seriousness. Plus, it helps me to get centered and focused.

Keep up the good work!!!

Funny you should mention "talking to him," because I do this, in a way. When we go in a direction which is the way we go to the park, he will tug to go there. I know he misses it. What I do is bend down, place my hand on his injured leg, and tell him that we have to take it easy for awhile...it's not time yet. When he feels my hand on his leg, I think he remembers that all is not well, and he doesn't pull anymore. It really works, every time!

Being centered and focused is so key. They do take cues from us...from our energy.

mateo, Look at that handsome helpful boy!!!!

Hang in there hun, you will get through this and we will help and support you ever step of the way.

Nothing wrong with a lil alcohol, yoga helping you through this. :) Mateo is your heart dog we all know this, as long as you are calm, he will be too.

There are many low impact things you can do in the apartment to keep him happy.

CR he is my heart, no doubt about it...and everybody's support here, it means a lot. We'll get through this, I have to believe it.

I did buy him a few chews- cow ears, bully stick, even though he's not a big chewer. They last for months, but he does chomp on them every now and then, so it helps.

Thanks, void- yeah, fingers, toes and a few silent prayers...

Have you looked into seeing a rehab vet? They are truly miracle workers. If you need recommendation, join Canine Conditioning and Body Awareness Exercises on FB if you have FB. Otherwise, I can look it up for you.
