Need to find a new vet

My vet relocated in May last year and I have been trying to find a large breed friendly vet ever since. In June my 9-year old DDB started having trouble and I took him to a couple of vets with very bad results. At 225 lbs he can be a hand full when he gets uncomfortable and needs to see one of us at all times when he's out of the house. This last trip they strapped him down to a gurney to examine him and he died of congestive heart failure as he panicked to try to see us. Before we get our next dog I have to find someone in North Dallas who knows how to treat Mastiffs and their families. I'll take suggestions from anywhere around Addison up to Frisco over to Lewisville and East to Plano. I'm currently on a waiting list for a Cane Corso so I would like to get this nailed down before the pup shows up. Cane's are much more energetic than DDB's so getting a good vet is a must. In general, Dallas veterinarian compassionate care and understanding for large breeds have proven pathetic compared to my experiences elsewhere.
If anyone needs a vet in the Austin area though, I highly recommend Dr Rachael Roark as she is fantastic and was the one who took care of us before she left.

I am so sorry to hear about how you lost your boy. That's just unacceptable, imo. My daughter no longer works in a physical clinic but she's an elite certified fear free technician and worked in a fear free practice for quite some time. Fear free clinics would have never strapped your boy down like that. I don't know your area at all, but I did do a quick search for "fear free veterinarian Dallas, TX" and there's one with really good ratings as the first hit. Try doing a search for fear free and then call and discuss how they would handle a fearful/reactive/etc animal.

Boxergirl - thanks so much did not know about these fear free clinics. After 35 years of being with DDBs we have been convinced our next companion will be a Cane Corso and since they are even more energetic than the DDB I'm really worried about getting a vet that understands these mastiff breeds.
Thanks again for the prompt response.
