Rudy is doing fine, yup must have been the bully stick... You really have to watch them with those, not the biggest fan of the bully stick for that reason, so slippery with the mucous. Any thoughts on elk antlers?

A few members give their pups antlers, by their posts the pups do well with them.

Have you tried ice cubes with treats frozen in the middle, plain ice cubes, frozen hand towels (big enough so pup can't swallow the towel), nylabones, kongs with frozen yogurt with treats in the middle for his chewing? You can also feed raw bones, i.e. chicken feet (great source of glucosamine), make sure raw bones are non-weight bearing bones, i.e. leg bones because they can break the pup's teeth. Some members give marrow bones but make sure they are big enough to not fit around the pup's muzzle as they can become stuck on their muzzle.

So it's been a week, Rudy was doing well having good stool but now for the last 2 days nothing but pudding? Could the protein be bothering him, we have no old food left to mix. Just give it time and mix with pumpkin, how long does transition normally take. Does over feeding affect stool to be runny?

Yeah if he eats too much the stool will be softer as well.

I doubt it's the protein, it could be too fast of a transition. You can stop all dog food and feed him boiled white rice with boiled meat (hamburger, chicken or turkey) with 1 tablespoon of pumpkin (not the pie filling) for 3-5 days until diarrhea clears up. This helps reset the system and will enable you to start him back on his new food without adding the old food.

Since we are talking Acana here, I would like too mention that the Singles Lamb is giving Thor massive dumps!
He loves it but I'm gonna have to switch out. Maybe try the Pork if not go back to Duck or Pacifica.
The last time he had poops this big was when he was eating TOTW and Nature's Domain.

Titan's poop remains small on the Pacifica but noticed they were little bigger with Ranchlands. Thankfully, he didn't care for the Ranchlands.

So with this whole calcium thing, when can one switch to Ranchlands , pork etc (higher calcium ) , at what age? I'm sure I likely asked this already ?

You can usually switch to a higher calcium after 12 months, that is about the time their bones should be fully matured but remember mastiffs continue to grow until 2-3 years of age.

Acana Regionals is not that high of a calcium to cause major concern so switching at 12 months to another flavor should be aok.

We have to understand that not all the calcium in the food can actually be absorbed by the dog. Just like protein!
