Freezing is always the best thing you can do. But not everyone freezes deep enough, 0F or below for at least a week. Wild pork they say to freeze longer. Also salmon or salmonoid fish (trout) should also be put in a deep freeze for a week to a month before feeding to a dog. I also read a few articles that said you can feed eggs pretty much as often as you like as long as you don't separate the white from the yoke, and whole egg shell and all is best.

You might try feeding the rabbit skin on as well. This is a natural way of feeding and provides roughage for the digestive tract.

Thanks for this info. Our LGD pup I think gets quite a few eggs as some of the chickens lay them in the grass. Here in another photo.

He has some old piebald blood in him. Did he give you a pedigree tree or anything you could use to trace his ancestry? There was some Ysterberg in the old Mizpahs and it still shows up from time to time.
Here are some old videos of the Mizpah dogs in South Africa before the organizations were formed, around 1979 I think. You will see Lucas and some of the old true blood including some Pie/Irish marked dogs.

You mean Buck has some piebald in him? My wife commented on the blaze but I didn't put together the piebald part as the origin. I've seen some really impressive piebalds I've really liked. Dee Ann, his wife, is supposed to send us registration papers and all. We drove off without them. We met everyone of his dogs. He took each out individually. He must have 15 or so. He told us about each and some others like night hawk I think. His mother looked nice and tall for a female. I can't remember her name. I wish I'd taken some pictures. I think I was a bit in awe trying to soak it up since I'd never seen a BB before in person. He said his mom hard some hardness in her which he liked. It surprised me that none of the dogs barked at us but we kept in line and I did have a sense they were watching us closely and it would have been an issue at least for some if we'd acted out around them. There were a few he did not feel comfortable getting out and those he didn't. He does protection training with a fair number of them. What do you think about the Ysterberg line. That's not one of the kennels that introduced "black" boerboels is it? I'll ask his wife about the mom. I know his dad is DK Bruiser. Now I'll watch the videos.

we have a male English mastiff mix whose 5 months now. I wouldn't be getting a puppy for about a year or two.

We were actually looking into beorboels as our first pup but my bf has never had a molosser breed or anything other then a $#@!zu. So I wanted to get him a more manageable breed first off. I've had big dogs all my life.

We live in missouri so kansas isn't too far. Does he have a site or fb page?

He doesn't seem to at this point. He did some time ago. He is just a few miles south of independence, Ks. I some how got a cell number he asked me to not give out. I'll email him tomorrow and ask his wife how they prefer people to get a hold of him. It seems his reputation is so sting he doesn't really advertise. He keeps his males separated for the most part. Even with the pups Bucks big brother put his paw on Buck and Buck didn't like it and went after his brother pretty hard and got the big guy down before Dave got them apart. The next time his bid brothergot a hold of Bucks ear and thigh and drew blood from both areas before it was stopped but Buck was fighting back. Dave had to lift the bigger brother off by the back leg but it still took a bit to get the to stop. It happened after we'd been petting Buck and I think was tied to some jealousy. Apart from that all the pups played and laid around together. Dave pointed out it's much worse when they are 175-180# males. I'd love to have 2 males at some point but we don't want them to be inside in kennels but inside with us so 2 intact males isn't happening. Buck is so attentive and great w out 2 young daughters and infant son. I think he's going to be a great dog.

He sounds very protective already. Sizer is absolutely not yet. I'm sure he will eventually as he has gsd in him as well as english mastiff.

If we got another dog it will probably be a female as I've never had a girl dog lol. Haven't decided on Breed but really love to have a Bb, cane corso or another EM

Any more pics of buck???

Not many more pics yet. He's 12 1/2 weeks. We've just had him 4 days. I don't know if he's protective yet or not. He definitely did not want his brother dominating him with his paw on buck but buck is super attentive to us. Walks right at our side on or off lead w his eyes on us and has no trouble w us being boss. He sits already for his food and lets me feel around in his mouth. Females are good and I think can be even more protective. I recognize the couch in the picture and I think I saw your post of your guy growing up back before I joined mastiff forum. It was fun seeing him grow. I also remember his long legs. How's he doing any issues health or otherwise?

Buck sounds super smart! The more you talk the more I want a bb puppy lol sounds like he's going to mix very well with your family. Do you plan on doing obedience training with him? Or just train him yourself?

We make sizer sit for his food too, but mainly cause he gets a little too excited and has once or twice knocked over his water.
No health issues. He did have yeast infections in both ears when we got him, but the vet fixed that. He's starting to loose his baby teeth it's so cute.

have you gotten buck anything to chew on? I get sizer cow hooves, theyre soft but last him about a week. And he LOVES them.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the videos. Those were good. I just emailed Dee Ann, Dave's wife with linage questions and how they prefer to have people get a hold of them re: their pups for HeadsUpPenny (HUP). I have asked about any Mizpah linage in his bloodlines as well. I can see the Piebald now just much more subtle than in Charlie. He has the blaze on the face which I had just considered a fault, some lighter area on chest and on his shoulders.

FYI HUP, when I had him out this morning he heard a little something and got focused and real alert and gave an aggressive puppy bark. He con't to watch the area sitting alert while giving out puppy growls, barks and puffs and huffs. Took pictures once I could get my phone out and these are attached.

My wife got him some chew stuff but we should get hi some cow hooves. That's a good idea. Sounds like Sizer is healthy which is nice. How old is he? We will do an obedience class too and try to get Lydia who turns 4 in Nov involved too as much as possible. Just for clarification Lydia is my daughter not another dog.

Hi Mike,
Dee Ann got back to me that Bruiser is Buck's father and Night Train from Dave Harris/John Blackwell is Buck's grandfather. I'm attaching some pictures of Night Train that I found. Had Penn Hip scores 0.28, 0.28. Found this on Olympic Dogs.

("Night Train" ( now deceased ) belonged to a breeder by the name of David Harris who basically built his kennel of him. John Blackwell the founder of the USBA, also used this dog very heavily. A lotta folks in a Boerboel centric circles of the Kansas/oklahoma region seem to think Mr. Harris walks on water, I know better. But what ever one might say about these two gentlemen nobody can deny they bring an extraordinary amount of dog experience and dog knowledge. And they saw fit to build on this dog, like no other. He*s probably the single most bred dog in USBA history.

Night train was purported to have Penn hip scores of .28 .28 which was the best score in Boerboels for a considerable period of time.
"Night Train" again below, The foundation stud of the Harris/Blackwell juggernaut.)

Russ,

I have a pup out of this litter as well. I have a thread on the forum and his name is Murphy. I got the small male. Definitely see some similarities with your dog and Bruiser.

Your post on how a BB should be trained was a very good one. Thanks for asking the question. It seems to me that these dogs need/crave lots of interaction. This was my impression before getting Buck and unfortunately I don't get as much time with Buck during the week as I think he would like. I suspect your guy is going to keep getting better especially if you are doing training and getting help. I need to get Buck in a class but overall I'm really pleased with how he's doing.
