New puppy! Normal weight?

Hi there! Super happy I found this forum :)

I just got a new presa puppy, she’s 8 weeks old, 12 lbs. I know she’s one of the smaller ones of her litter. I’ve had big breeds before but not a presa so I’m trying to gauge what’s normal for this pup and if her weight at this age will necessarily dictate what her weight will be as an adult?

What are your guys’ experiences and weights of your pups?

Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome. I just saw this. Don't worry. Genetics dictates adult size. Sometimes the smallest in a litter end up being the largest. Mostly you end up with a dog that's about the same size as the parents. Just keep your girl growing slow and steady. Don't worry about the number on the scale and look instead at her body condition. Body condition is the important thing.

I second what Boxergirl said. My English Mastiff was 24 lbs when I got him at 11 weeks, and the largest in his litter. Online growth charts said he should be 40 lbs at that age. He is around 200lbs now and is a big boy for the breed. Puppy size doesn't always indicate adult size.

Thank you for this!!! She seems like she’s growing and healthy! She’s a little bit of a picky eater so I’m anxious she’s not getting enough nutrition but we’re working on it!
