Hello I have just been given an 8 month old Spanish mastin.

I have had him a week now. So he is still settling in.

He eats very little. He struggles to get through 1lb of dry and half a tin of meat.

He takes the entire day to eat it. I dont leave the food down. I give him about 15 minutes to eat. Then I take it up.

Today he has eaten nothing at all.

He does seem thin. Maybe because he doesn't eat!

Also on Sunday I noticed that he started limping. He has not before.

However he is not limping when being chased by my 15 month old Malinois bitch.

As soon as he stops playing he starts limping.

So now I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with him.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome to the forum,
Its still early days for him, iv never dealt with spanish mastiffs but i know of mastiffs that have been rehomed take time to adjust, is he on the same food he was on at his previous home, what food are you feeding him
The limping could be his age hes still growing and a lot of activity can so this, also if his food isnt right that can be contributing to it.
