Opinion on a breeder and her excuses

Sorry needed to vent. I bought my ddb around Xmas from a breeder in Denver. I have since been waiting on his paperwork that she says she now has. I have been told for the last 4 days that she would email them to me. Her excuses include oh I thought that I already emailed them to you, sorry been busy, sorry been sick, ect. I actually talked to her in Saturday and she said she would email it to me ASAP and explained she is in a court battle with my puppy's moms handler and when I did get them if I could wait a week before registering him. I am thinking about calling her every night and sending emails the rest of this week and then getting a lawyer on it. I paid a chunk of change for him to show and breed, and I feel like I was a fraud victim. Then when i talked to her this morning she said she would call me and give me the pin and registry when she got home from work, i called her twice tonight and no answer. i have since left a voice mail and an email. Has any one else ever dealt with something like this?? And what can I do? I am so frustrated and just upset.

Hmmm it sounds like you are being lead a merry dance here. I would write her one last email, give her 7 days to get the papers to you, if they are not received at the end of the 7 calendar days (not working days) then you are going to be seeking legal advice. Be nice, dont threaten, shout or scream, just be clear and precise and lay your terms out on the table. Once the 7 days are up and assuming she doesnt follow through then seek legal advice if you can. It may very well be you are right and she has scammed you...it wont hurt to see if you can shake her up a little and see what happens.

To be fair ALOT of breeders have been griping in the last few years about how long its taking to get the AKC paperwork for their pups, so that may not be her fault (it took months to get Apollo's, and I know of at least two other breeders who've had the same problem).

But the rest of it....I'd go with Mooshi's Mummy's advice.

Ok I don't know what the correct thing is but shouldn't a buyer receive the preliminary registration paperwork when they pick up the puppy? Or are you saying the breeder supposedly filled all of that out for you? My current EM & last EM I was given the paperwork to fill out myself at the time of purchase. But I never completed the registration so I don't know how long it took to get back.

Now if it's anything like my horse, when I switched just the owner name on her papers bc she was double registered it took forever to get her papers back.

i think if she is saying she sent them then she either has them and is a bubble head or she doesnt, but either way she says she does have them so i would get getting a little stern. the lady needs to start saying it straight rather than making excuses. i took moo's papers with me and just changed ownership.

This is from her littler that she just had, and in all my cases of buying registered dogs they all had paperwork when I picked up my dog. This lady said she had to have the male breeder sign off on the paperwork and she would get me the information when it came in. She now says that she has them, and will email or call me with the info. She calls says that she is at work and will call me when she gets home with the info, she never calls or the one time she did she had another call and said she'd call me right back. Then her excuse is she called me back and I didn't answer my phone. She has my cell phone number and only my cell phone number and there was no missed calls. At this point in time I want to rip my hair out from all this stress since I need his paperwork before I can start showing.

If the pup is AKC registered you might be able to get the AKC to put pressure on her too. They're pretty strict about puppy owners getting their paperwork when they should.

Honestly if she's giving you the round about then I'd say she's throwing you for a loop. She either has them or she doesn't. I'd do like MM said & try one last time. If she does not send you the info is send her a certified letter.

I sent an email last night to akc, I will give akc until tomorrow night to get back to me and then I will call them. If I wasn't 7 hours away and it wasn't wonder if just drive to her house. I know her dogs are great dogs and one of the top Bordeaux's in the nation, but I don't think this is worth it. I am being so stressed it is affecting how my schooling is getting done and my kids have noticed I'm a little upset.

I don't blame you. You bought a pup with show rights that I'm sure cost way more than a pet pup. I can't imagine the stress you're going through. I would say if AKC doesn't email you back I would try maybe calling them. I hope you get the info soon. Keep us posted

I will. I am going to call her again after my daughter gets on the school bus, and I will call both her home and her cell. If I haven't heard from here I will then send her a certified letter, I don't want to pay for a lawyer but I might have to. Ahhhhhhh

She called me back this morning and told me to call me at 5. I did as she asked and called her at 5 and 5:45 and no answer. I sent her an email concerning my frustration with the situation and told we I will continue to call through out the night. I just feel so helpless in this situation and thinking about making the 7 hour drive back to her house to demand paperwork.

So I got his information and when I wet to register him with akc it says that there is an issue and I have to call them in the morning. This is never ending. Could I have put the info in wrong to many times since I put the full reg number in wrong four times, I wrote down the wrong one when she gave it on the phone. Will this nightmare ever end ahhhhhh

I hope so to. She did refuse to have me the sir and damns akc reg number telling me that when I call akc I wouldn't need it. I will call akc as soon as I get up in the morning and get this straightened out. And if she thinks I will recommend her to anyone I know, at this time this will never happen.

That's ridiculous. When you get your pup's papers you'll have those numbers anyway. How old is this person, 12?

She acts like it. I know she is getting sick of my emails and phone calls, but alls I want is the paper work that I paid for when I bought him. Who knew this was so much to ask for. Note to self, when picking up a puppy make sure breeder has paperwork in hand even if you have drove 9 hours to get there!!!!

I am starting to wonder this my self, but as my husband puts it, I am over thinking the situation. He thinks that it is the accountant in me. But I feel that since I paid for the paperwork, showing, and breeding rights I deserve to get it. Without these it defeats the purpose of me buying him. Maybe I should have gone with my second breeder chose.
