Pedigree Photos?

I am new here, just wanting to absorb as much CC information as possible because we will be bringing our new CC home in a couple of weeks. I have spent the last few weeks researching and photo documenting "Hank's" pedigree. I have been able to find about 100 photos of his 200+ direct ancestors. However, I think I have about hit my limit on posted photos. I contacted one of the prominent breeders in his pedigree and very politely introduced myself and made a formal request. The response was a rather curt with demands of information from me (who, what, when, where and how stuff). I politely responded but the guy did not. Anyway, do breeders have some kind of unwritten rules or etiquette I need to follow when seeking photos of their dogs? Thanks, Russ

Not normally some are just easier to deal with than others. Some breeders if you aren't getting dogs from them don't tend to take the time for new people. I am sorry that you didn't get a more helpful reply. I don't know what breeder you were looking into but is there something in particular you were wanting to know. There are several of us on here that have dogs from different breeders that might be able to help out. If it is just for pictures in general from the initial breeder than maybe someone on here has a dog from similar lines that has pictures they can share.

If you want to post your dogs lines, parents/grandparents ppl here may be able to help you if they have anything :)
It is surprising the amount of pictures and info we crazy Corso people have on our hard drives lmao :D

Not totally off topic but Nero, had a daughter Elsa as well who is my female's great great grandmother and mother to one of my favorite older dogs Black,
I guess that would make Nero a great great great grandfather lol.
I will see what I can find out.

Thanks guys. I have noticed that there are some pretty significant dogs who have not been submitted to canecorsopedigree.com or at pedigreedatabase.com. Neither are even close to complete. Do some breeders/owners shy away from posting pedigrees?

A lot of the older breeders aren't even online and some of those pedigrees have been submitted by people that have dogs out of their lines and the gaps filled in when others submit puppies from the same lines. There are a lot of old school breeders that just don't advertise or promote their dogs that way so you might find it hard to find some pictures of the oldest dogs in your pedigree unless they are coming from someone that has traveled to the kennels in question. Sometimes there are questions about pedigrees being as accurate as they are supposed to be so others don't post, the corso world is a unique one ;)

Lol, true enough.
In many pedigrees there are some... umm... inventive pairings.
You have to remember this is a relatively new breed as far as registries go.
Although it is fun to snoop around, going back as far as you are going, unless talking to the original breeders and having them TRUST you, you will never really know.
Really, going back to the parents and grandparents is good to see what is in front of you.
It wasn't that long ago that all a breeder had to do was show a dog to a FCI approved judge and get them to approve it as a Corso then poof, it would be a registered Corso ;) and I am talking within the past decade.
What kennel did you get your dog from?

Yes, I have learned a lot about the young history of Cane Corso breeding in the last few weeks. I have talked to some great folks and some real azzes. I have gotten at least five different dissertations on what a "True Cane Corso" is. It seems to me that some folks make it their religion, "the Methodist is going to hell, the Presbyterian is going to heaven" kind of thing. We are getting our pup from Christopher Zevecke. His dog Capone Al Zevecke is one of the most amazing animals I have ever laid eyes on. He is the paternal grandson of Red River Canyon's Apollo and great-grandson of Bel Monte Czar & Roman's Sophie. Capone was mated with a gorgeous Blue Brindle, Alexa Amor Kepka. This dog has strong Scandifio breeding. Just a note about ourselves. We live on 140+ acres with our six children ages 10 to 22. We met Chris through a mutual friend who overheard us talking about visiting breeders of English Mastiffs, which we were originally considering. He told us about Chris and his love of the Cane Corso (which we then knew little about). Chris was looking for good families for a litter of pups that were coming due. We met Chris and his dog Capone as well as the mother Alexa. These were both the most gentile, smart, well trained and yet protective animals we had ever seen. Gorgeous to behold, unbelievable temperament, and excellent health. We were very excited about his dogs. The more we studied about the breed, the more we wanted one for our family. We brought all of our kids out to Chris' home facility to "meet the parents". We also visited with Chris' veterinarian. We were convinced. However, before Chris would accept our deposit he wanted to visit our home. Now Chris is as excited about our new family member as we are. We have visited Chris' place weekly (sometimes twice weekly) since then. Our dog "Hank" chose us at four weeks. The pups are now nearly eight weeks and we will take Hank home somewhere around 10-12 weeks. Hank will be a member of our family. Here is a pic of Hank's pop, Capone:

Oh, one more thing. Perhaps this deserves another thread? Anyway, we are really debating the ear crop thing. I did a little photoshop of Capone (Hank's dad) to try and get a vague idea of what Hank would look like with cropped ears:

Do any of you have strong opinions either way?

Very cool, glad you are happy with your breeder and everyone involved is comfortable :)
I personally prefer the cropped look. But that is just an opinion.

I have a 14 week old Cane Corso, Leo. I have never liked the cropped ear look on any breed. I have never understood the point of doing it. I must admit it is growing on me with the Corso's, since seeing so many great photos on this site.

My Leo has the softest ears that I could just rub all day long. He also loves to have them stroked. So much of his personality he presents with his ears. They are up and out when you have his full attention. They are pulled back when he is unsure of a situation. They stand up and tight when he wants to play. To me Cane's have such great ears naturally, it is a shame to loose such an amazing part of these dogs.
