So we were able to get a mass grinding in last Thursday and are set for a few weeks! I have a bag of kibble sitting here but hope we can make it through the holidays My question is about Chica's portions. Her ideal weight(according to our vet) is 135 lbs. A bit on the thin side due to her extremely arthritic knees. She was 133 lbs in October at the time of her surgery and x-rays. We were feeding her 3.5 lbs per day and backed down to 2.5 lbs a day. She was gaining weight rather quick at 145 lbs 2 weeks post op. Lowered to 2 lbs per day but she is now hovering at 150 lbs! We give marrow bones when they are in cages while we are gone but it is not all that much, and chicken or rabbit feet for treats(maybe 2 a day). I can see her stiffness at times and I'm getting concerned. She is 6 yrs old and not too active. I think she looks good, not over weight, but do agree with the vet that she will feel better at a lower weight. Any suggestions of a good amount to take some weight off? I hate to lower more because 2% of 135 lbs is 2.7 lbs. When we take her to walk or run she has no interest except to stay by us. If we walk too much(3/4 mile) she gets super sore and lays around(more than usual) for the next days. Thanks!
