Puppy food to adult food

I have just switched my 6 month English Mastiff from puppy food ( Blue Buffalo ) to the adult food . Do I feed him the suggested amount of adult food per weight , or do I give him adult food in the suggested amount for the puppy food ? The adult suggested amount is a lot less . I thought that adult food is use for maintaining a full grown dog's weight . The 3 to 3 3/4 cups a day does not seem to be enough . Thanks for any replies

I would increase his amounts at each feeding and watch him to see if he appears satisfied. My guy at 5 months was eating 2 full cups at each meal of BB Basics and still wanted more! He had a healthy appetite! Your pup will eat what he needs and usually will leave the rest in the bowl for later.

Is it chicken and grain free? If it doesn't seem to be enough you may want a higher calorie food. Which formula are you feeding? You should be going by whatever it says to feed for the weight. Over feeding can cause growth issues.

I figured out the calories that I had been feeding and then gave the amount of new food that equalled that amount.
