Well, I now know that Apollo's reaction to the sound of a young animal in distress is to charge towards the sound.

On the other hand I have a sneaking suspicion that we're now short a deer fawn.....

He might of just investigated it...my girl saved a chipmunk and a bird from our cat who seems to catch animals on an 8 foot cat tie up. However, raccoon and other cats that aren't hers may not enter the yard.

I'm not sure what'd he'd have done, but he's shown a protective streak towards other injured animals (he saved an injured sparrow from Arty for example), but this is the first real "in distress" call we've heard while out with him, and boy did he want to go find it. I'm just as happy that husband had a solid hold on the leash, we have some pretty big coyotes here, and that "fawn in distress" sound cut off rather abruptly......

glad you clarified Ruth--the 1st post sorta read as if Apollo might be the reason you may be short a fawn!
