Smelly dog..

Hi! I am a new member and the owner of Gemma, a 7mo old bullmastiff. I have a question regarding smell.. She all the sudden has an odor. It's like a musty smell, almost a dirty dog smell. This smell persists even after bathing. I see no skin issues, nothing in any folds, her ears are clean, as are her teeth and jowls. I am at a loss of what to do. You can smell her coming a room away. The smell starts at the top of her head and encompasses all of her. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Other details:
* Food: Diamond Brand Extra Large Breed
*She is never outside unsupervised. If she is not in your line of vision she will chase the neighbors cat.. For that reason, we tend to keep her on a leash. She is walked twice daily, etc.

hhmmm...is it almost an oily smell? Could be that her anal glands need to be expressed.
Is a nasty job that you can have done at most salons or vets offices.
Other then that I dunno... never had that trouble.
Good luck

We never have til now either.. She normally smells fine. It started two days ago. I woke up just before the alarm because I smelled something terrible, I mean gag terrible. I got up and followed the smell to her crate. All the way to the edge on one side was a little puddle of something off white in color with a bit of liquid around it. I thought maybe she had thrown up as I bought her a new brand of treats the day before. I thought maybe they didn't settle or something. I took her potty and when we came in she went right to eat acting fine. In the light the liquid stuff was a really dark yellow. I made sure it wasn't urine or anything as she has been potty trained since she was little little. I bleached the crate and bathed her. I thought maybe she had gotten into it and that's why she smelled the way she did. The bath made no difference. When she was all dry, the smell was still there. I will definitely contact our vet. Thanks soo much for your input, I appreciate it!

We have been to the vet and it was an anal gland issue. All is well now and thank you for all of your input!
