I'm Smitty and Logan is my 4 month old (today 9 Nov.) Cane Corso. We're just looking for people to share information, ideas, opinions...blah, blah, blah...;o) We live in Germany, so forgive me if I don't always reply promptly to comments, posts and messages (6 hours ahead from east coast). We have had Logan for 4 days now. He is adjusting well to me, my wife and my son so far. He's only had one potty in the house. He goes potty to the appropriate area when we take him outside. He responds to basic commands (we start puppy/obedience training in a week). He has only been stubborn on few occasions, typically when we want him to go to his crate...since he not completely house trained. Hopefully, we will be done with the crate by Christmas. He currently receiving quality kibble for food, but we will be switching to B.A.R.F. in a day or two. My plan to begin is to start with feeding him approx. 2% of his body weight (35-40 lbs). When he is full grown...want him to be around 110-120 lbs. We want him to have plenty of agility, speed and power. We welcome all feedback/opinions on feeding, training, socialization and just general comments...looking forward to hearing from everyone....;o) Can't wait till our boy can take on the stairs...he hasn't even seen the entire house...;o)

Welcome aboard to you and Logan~ Feeding raw is 2-3% of expected body weight not current weight.

Stairs should be maneuvered with care. Leash the pup while walking up and down the stairs. Are the stairs carpeted? If not, do not allow the pup to walk up or down until he's older.

Mastiff is a very stubborn and independent breed. Frustration, yelling or hitting will cause the pup to shut down on you and stop listening.

Keep us posted on Logan's progress. Logan is a real cutie pootie!

Thanks for the info on the feeding amount, also on walking the stairs. We went to the vet today because we were concerned with a little redness around his eyes. The vet said it wasn't 'cherry eye', more likely from stress/ nervousnes, also from the long flight over to Europe and the wind temp here is lot lower than where he came from. Nevertheless he gave us some eye drops to use for the next few days. Hopefully all will be ok.
