Hello, my wife and I put a deposit on a female mastiff from Beowulf Mastiffs. The date we will receive our girl is early March (which seems like so far away)

I joined the forum to learn more about English Mastiffs and to interact with people who own and have experience with these dogs. This will be our first Mastiff however, we do have friends who own Mastiffs so we are somewhat familiar with the breed.

Pretty smart of you guys to jump on this before you get her! good luck with her and ask as many questions as you can. I'm not really an EM guy buy I can def. help you out with basic mastif things.

Thank you everyone! My wife and I made up a list of questions to ask the breeder, I will post them here in case anyone has suggestions on other questions to add to the list.

We are both extremely excited!

Well...I finally got the date when I can pick up my female so now the countdown begins. The breeder said that this litter produced the biggest and most beautiful pups she has seen. I don't think she would simply make a statement like this so I am really anxious to see her. For those familiar with Beowulf Mastiffs the breeding was Rumor/Kubota which are both BIG beautiful mastiffs (Mom was close to 190lbs) I do not know Kubota's weight but I do know he's a pulling champion so I'm sure he's 200+. My wife and I specifically wanted a pup from this breeding since we were keen on getting a fawn and really liked Kubota/Rumor. I do not have any pics yet...and I'm torn between wanting to see pictures or being surprised. I have only seen one EM in person and it was a 6 month old male, huge and beautiful so I cannot imagine how a 10 week old pup will look like. ~37 days and counting! Oh...down the road I did see someone with an Italian Mastiff...such a beautiful dog, pictures do not do them any justice. I was tempted to pull over and speak to the owner but I did not want to disturb their walk.

YAY! Congrats! I remember waiting and waiting....it seemed like forever! :)

BTW, us Cane Corso owners are very used to people pulling over to talk to us about our dogs....as long as they are not asking us to breed them with their pit bulls, we are happy to share :)
