We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Summer projects (DIY or not)

Broccolini, that kitchen is gorgeous!
Around here it seams like anytime I saved up money for any kind of remodeling besides painting something breaks. Hit a rock with my weed eater the other day, now I have to replace the sliding glass door.

Our house is over a hundred years old, and when we moved here 12 years ago, I displayed some genuine ambition.

I remodeled and upgraded the bathrooms (got help with tile and electrical), laid a foundation and reframed and replaced walls in our attached garage-(it'd been rotting on a slab), reroofed the same garage, tore out carpet and linstalled hardwood floors in the main rooms, painted the inside, repaired/rebuilt the porch and a bunch of other stuff.

I've aged.

This summer I intend to rinse out a couple of glasses and place them in the dishwasher.

I'm looking at beginning and completing the entire project sometime in August.

Whew!

Wow, must feel really good to finally finish. Since it's been 12 years, my guess it's time to restart the cycle again? My dad always have and still says "it never ends" about houses.

Probably not exactly what the op had in mind in the original question, but my project this summer has been getting my (only)child ready to leave for college! Doesn't sound like it would take that much effort but once I saw the suggested list (which I probably should have glanced at earlier!) I have become quite overwhelmed! Also, making things a bit tougher is she has not wanted anyone to talk about anything to do with going away! Plus I am starting to wish I could go back and perhaps work on some of my parenting skills! For an example of what we're dealing with here: We were in Target this week, and as we're strolling through the cleaning supplies, I said, "Carson, I think we'll send these with you(pointing to the Tide "pods") it will be easier for you I think". She stops dead in her tracks, looking at me with utter confusion and says, "What are you talking about, don't they take care of that for you? Not kidding. Sister's going to have a bit of a learning curve once she gets there!

She won't be alone in that learning curve if that's any consolation. About a third of the kids in my class last year made some sort of comment like 'but my mom did that for me'.

broccolini, I don't even like to use my kitchen (trick my husband into most cooking :p) and I want your kitchen. We have been working on the backyard. We got an English rock garden, that the previous owners didn't take care of for 10 plus years. We are taking everything taller than me in the summer for over 70 feet long. Last year we tried just clear cutting it came back this year we actually removing and trying to till...and I got about 10,000 pounds of rocks to move as I want to make it smaller so more room for me to run around with the dog without tripping. She doesn't trip...I seem too. Oh and the amount of trunks they left in the ground....just crazy. Inside was good but outside they never went.

Finally after 2 years, this Japanese rose (from Home Depot) is starting to bloom!! It's like 20x larger than the one still in the pot. YAY for bunny poop!!!
