umbilical hernia

Hey everybody,
i just got a 6 weeks old female dogo argentino. It seems she has an umbilical hernia. I read somewhere that it can be fixed by surgery but i also read that it best to void breeding dogs with hernia as it is genetic. And i also read that it can be fixed by itself at 6 months age or so. I'd like to know what is true and what is not. thank you

hi Malik, welcome to the family… congratulations on your new family member! Yes my vet says that depending on the hernia….yes it can fix it self….but best to have your vet take a look. Umbilical hernia is not genetics….. And if you’re planning on breeding her as long as her hernia has been repaired shouldn’t be a problem
