We saw at least six heart beats. :)

The sire is BISS AUS CH Darkling Cockney Rebel. I'll have a more formal looking announcement in a day or two.

Best of luck with the pairing.

Though I must say I love jades over all look far more.
I love his build, he seems to have a shorter muzzle and Jade seems to have a mid range muzzle length wise.
Love Jade's masking, and I hate his masking.
Love Jades chest and great color, he has a very nice chest and so so on the coloring of it.(It may be the picture) but it seems to have the dual off white with dark hairs.
Personally think your doing great on body, size, and proper bone. But think your looking over doing the head in the pairing.

Best of luck with the pairing.

Thank you.

Though I must say I love jades over all look far more.

There are numerous things to like about them both; neither one is perfect.

I love his build,

He was a stout dog, well-knit and dense.

he seems to have a shorter muzzle and Jade seems to have a mid range muzzle length wise.

What does the standard say, re: proper muzzle length? I ask because the standard is what we breed towards.

Love Jade's masking, and I hate his masking.

He is a well-pigmented dog, that's for sure. It is my view that pigmentation is not strong in our breed at this time. Jade's mom was lightly pigmented. I considered the possibility that Jade might produce poorly pigmented pups if not bred to a strongly pigmented male. We considered this for her first breeding as well.

Love Jades chest and great color, he has a very nice chest and so so on the coloring of it.(It may be the picture) but it seems to have the dual off white with dark hairs.

Structurally, they both have quite-nice fronts.

Personally think your doing great on body, size, and proper bone.

Thank you.

But think your looking over doing the head in the pairing.

His head does not meet what is typically meant by 'overdone'. Overdone heads typically refer to the amount of wrinkling. In this respect, Rebel is most certainly not 'overdone'.

Again, what does the standard say about skull proportions, ear set, eye placement, muzzle width and depth, etc?

Ethical breeders breed to the standard. And while exceptions to this are whispered about, generally, the dogs who win the biggest dog shows are deemed to be the closest representatives of the standard on the day they were exhibited. To wit:

* Rebel's paternal grandsire (UK CH Trevabyn's Mr. Snowman at Andwell) won Crufts in 1994.
* Rebel's sire was the #1 Mastiff in all of the UK in 1993 and 1994 (UK CH Darkling Paddington Bear JW).
* Rebel's dam was never shown (as she immigrated from the UK to AUS as a younger bitch of prime breeding age), she did win Brood Bitch three straight years at the Mastiff Club of Victoria (AUS) Breed Specialty show, and she had multiple littermates receive their CH in the UK under the kennel name "Marcolian".
* Rebel was a BISS winner (Mastiff Club of Victoria (AUS) in 2004, which he won as a veteran).
* Rebel's littermate sister (BISS AUS CH Darkling Simply Blue) was also a BISS winner.
* Rebel has sired multiple BISS and BOSS offspring.

He comes from the highest quality genetics the Mastiff breed has to offer and has produced quality on top of that. To me, this was about as low-risk a breeding (if the objective is quality breed representatives) as anything I could have imagined.

Heck, Rebel lived until he was 12yrs 8mo of age. Longevity on top of breed type? Yes, please!

So, with all that to say, if you think our girl is a nicer representative of the breed that him, that is quite a compliment. Thank you. :)

As stated prior loved jade's masking, and never seen the other siblings. But then it could be pics, as we both know seeing a dog vs a pic of a dog is two different worlds. Great health is a major plus with any breeding.
