Well, we finally have babies.. we weren't sure at first.. My EM was hanging out with our friend BM, and well, it's been confirmed...
He did the deed..1st time ever (he's almost 4)

she went into labor yesterday about 4pm...
the first lil girlie came at 4:30.... then 6 more followed untilll about 7:30 pm...

so we had 6 girls n 1 boy...i left for work this morning after chking on them all, all was good..

i no longer pulled in the parking lot and my 15 yr old called n said 2 had past away..
i was thinking, there was no possible way in 20mins time that could happen..

so i called a friend n she ran over there... the 2 that past had just been born after i left... they let her out to potty, when she came in, she had 2 more!!

so, we now have 7 girls and 3 boys... this is her 1st littler... holy moly..

Good luck with the babies.

A question though; was it a planned breeding? And running the risk of pissing people off, why would you pick this pairing, what are/were you hoping to achieve with a BM x EM cross, meaning the reason for this particular breeding?

Thats what I was wondering as well

Uggg...how unfortunate...more accidental crossbred puppies into the world....

I have to disagree about 'accidental.' Sounds entirely intentional to me. I think it's a stretch that someone would allow their female that is in heat to "hang out" with an intact male and not know what the consequence would be. "1st time ever" and "did the deed" both sound slightly congratulatory. The phrasing of this announcement speaks volumes ... at least to me it does.

I really don't intend to offend anyone and I apologize if I have. I'm sure that the puppies are adorable.

I was reading her profile comments and she says that what happened was a friend brought over a their female bullmastiff thinking she was out of heat at that point, they left the two in the yard, came out and the two were attached. i think it is more of a situation where they should have read more about estrus cycles, and less about purposeful mix breeding.

no, it wasn't totally planned...as i had posted awhile back, my buddy had brought her over to play, thought she was done with her heat cycle..and i do not believe in abortion of any sort.....but the puppies are very adorable..

After the fact, there wasn't much i could do, I do not believe in abortion "of any species", and yes, i said 1st time ever and he's almost 4. he's never been interested, what's done is done. i also do not believe in abuse, so what was i suppost to do? be angey at him? I'm not trying to sound bitchy to anyone right now, but, I am not an idiot, nieve, irrisponsible or whatever other cruel words some people are using( and they should probably think before they open their mouths). My family has been in the AKC kennel club for 27 years breeding St.Benards.

not "totally" planned, so a little bit planned...
This is the problem, the heat cycle in total of a female is 21 -30 days, it is during the second week, estrus occurs, when the bitch will flag and stand, the actual breeding time is a matter of days within that time.
Either you and your buddy are completely ignorant of how canine heat cycles and breeding works (in which case you shouldn't own intact dogs) or this was a planned breeding, but saying was accidental relinquishes you from any and all responsibility. So how much are you selling the pups for? What about if any genetic issues such as djd, heart or thyroid come up in the pups, how will you compensate the owners? What kind of guarantee are you offering ? And how are you getting puppy applications and what are your prospective new owner qualifications? Or is it who ever shows up with the money?
Of course they are cute. ALL puppies are cute!
But seriously.... We need more BYB's like a hole in the head.

I'd like to respond to everyone that has posted something, It was not intentional, but it did happen, i DO NOT believe in abortion of any species, so yes we have EM X BM puppies. i appreciate the responses, but really, i thought this forum was for a group of people who are proud and love their Mastiffs, Not for bashing, critisizing, name calling, etc etc. My family has been in the AKC family for 27 years with St.Bernards. I do not really believe in cross breeding either, but i'm sure as hell not going to beat nor abort just because someone is not happy about what happened. I am thankful that they are both from the mastiff family and not a cockapoo or something. And yes, i made the comment, about my boy doing it for the first time and he's 4.. He has never been interested before.

i didn't join this forum to be critisized...considering you were not there Cody, i don't think i would be so quick to judge... so if your Child gets knocked up by some other race or religion, we should all say, you're ignorant, you did not teach your child.? and she should get an abortion? or better yet, you should of had her utterus, tubes, ect ect removed at birth?
