we did. it seemed mastiffs were hard to find in iowa. we had searched area rescues for years with no luck. seen a few but was always to late. a craigslist ad led us to a wonderful woman who had 3 pups, out of 12, left for sale. by the time we got there only 2 females remained. what we discovered was a wonderful woman who's lady was a well kept, beautiful house dog, she couldn't get enough attention. she had had a problem during birth, the last pup stuck, so after an expensive vet bill she found herself handfeeding the whole bunch until weaned. she was exactly what we were looking for. no puppy mill. after watching the last 2 play, beg attention, and lay at our feet we decided not to seperate them. its been nothing but entertainment since. our giant,rescued, rott accepted them, after a few, "i am the boss" mutterings and they have adapted well to their new home. we are so happy to have finally found our english mastiff's. they love running on our 3 acres, giving the cats a bit of trouble, and just lounging in the shade on the north side of the house. they are nearly housebroken, love eating out of the new raise feeding dishes and trying to sneak past the mastiff barrier into the living room to lie on the couch and chew things up a bit. it wont be long before the barrier is down and they are full house dogs. all of our dogs have always been house dogs, part of the family. we wouldnt have it any other way....
