Why an English Mastiff ?????

My friend asked me the other day why I choose an English Mastiff for my dog and it made me think . I guess I have numerous reasons why .

1. I like big dogs
2. I like non aggressive dogs
3. I like loyal dogs
4. I like dogs that do not bark all the time
5. I like not having to bend down to pet my dog
6. I like not having to " HUNT" in the backyard for his droppings ( they are so big I can find them with ease )
7. I do not like dogs with spots
8. I do not like dogs that hold their tales up and show their " angry spider" all the time
9. I do not like dogs with a lot of white ( Saint Bernard is the only exception )
10. I do not like dogs with long hair ( Saint Bernard exception again )
11. I do not like " Popular " dogs
12. I do not like ANY dogs that Paris Hilton likes
These are just some of the reasons I choose the English Mastiff . What are yours ?

Sorry, I just can't get past the "Angry Spider" remark......it's killing me! :lolbangtable:

I grew up with large breeds like Saints and EM's and prefer a big dog that I can play with without worrying about hurting or kicking a little thing. I don't get the whole mini dog in a purse that I carry around with me deal. I love their personalities. Em's are emotional, loyal, loving, considerate, intelligent and protective. There is nothing like cuddling up with a 200lb blanket that gives you kisses on a cold winter afternoon while watching tv on the couch!

Yes , I too love their personalities . Mine loves being around people , but when we leave to go somewhere without him , he is fine with it . He just catches up on his sleep . That is another reason I like English Mastiff . They are low maintenance dogs .

If they have to ask why, they just wouldn't understand. They are the perfect dog. I could do without the gas but considering all the love and loyalty ours give, I'll take it.

I have to laugh at #6. It never bugged me so much before when all I had was our Basset/Beagle mix. But now it drives me nuts when I'm picking up the yard. It takes me two seconds for Zoe (6m EM) and I'm searching around the yard for the other dog!...LOL.

Come on now , You have never had a good BELLY LAUGH when your English Mastiff hits you with the dreaded .... " London Fog " .

i love them for all of those reasons. my boy rocco cuddles up on my chest like a newborn, disregarding the fact that he is 100lbs+
