Wondering when my ddb will be protective of my house? 10 months old and is a baby.

I have a 10 month old french mastiff. I'm wondering when and if he will be protective of my home? When I say who's here he perks up and looks at window and then comes over and sits by my legs like he is scared! He sleeps with me and not sure if Someone broke in he would do anything. At what age would he get protective? It's been 12 years since I've had a pup. And my last two dogs have been bullmastiffs...so I'm kinda new to this breed.he is a big pussycat. He is huge

A lot of the time when my EM goes into guard mode he moves so that he is next to me. It's easier to keep whatever it is away that way.

This is what Mario does. He's Bullmastiff.
One night my mom was babysitting our kids & I came home quietly into the kitchen and instead of coming to the door & seeing who was there she said he tried to sit on my 4yr old son who was sleeping on the floor (on Mar's bed). And if my husband comes home from work our little dog races to the door barking & Mario comes & sits at my feet or practically climbs on me. He sleeps next to my side of the bed.

You never really know if they will protect you or not unless they are trained to protect you.
Like my CC Zoey will normally get between me and anything she percieves as a risk.
Would she protect me?
I would hope she would but in the real world I figure she will be one more barrier a bad guy would have to go through to get to me.
At home that should buy me enough time to get to a firearm and then I can protect myself.
You will probably see that as he gets older he will get more protective.

Believe me, your DDB will come into his own as he gets a little older. Mastiffs generally reach their true temperament at 12 months.

Like DDSK said, you truly do not know what they would do if an intruder enters your home unless you have given them protective training. Generally, DDB's will guard you.

Your Corso will be much more then a barrier, these dogs are relentless when a family members safety is in jeopardy. Basically the dog would need to be mortally wounded, they are born guardians and nothing but death will deter them. They dont show it often because visually they are deterrent , but when they have to they will.
