11mo old dogue de bordeux anxiety issues

Hey Guys,

A little about my current situation, I have 2 miniature Schnauzers aswell as Floyd my 11mo old dogue de bordeux, he is a lovely dog and isnt a burden in anyway, walks perfect on a lead and listens to commands when off the lead very well. The other two dogs are fine with him and they all get along just great.

Then it comes to the time I go to work. He barks, he cries, he howls, he urinates and poo's all over the kitchen where he is locked with my other 2 dogs. I recorded them for a 4hr period they were alone and he was quiet for one 30minute stint in this time. (really heartbreaking to listen to).

I've started him on NILIF training, and ive tried gradually by locking him in the room (baby gate) for time periods from 1minute to 5mins so far with him not crying. I tried him with a kong and he has no interest in it even if its filled with his favourite treat. I've also tried burning his energy off by taking him for a decent walk with some off the lead time on the local park.

Have any of you guys got any tips/tricks for me to use that will improve his alone time periods? They would be greatly appreciaed.

Thanks for reading,

Rob

Floyd is stressed. It can take a new pup 8-12 months to fully trust you. He may be stressed for another couple of weeks or couple of days. Can someone come into the house and walk him to give him some company.

He's experiencing separation anxiety. Do the pups have toys? Does Floyd have chew toys? Do you have background noise? Does Floyd have a crate?

He's new to the home and stressed, this is why he's experiencing SA. DDB's have to be close to their owners.

Bond with him by training him, walking him, brushing him and feeding him by hand.

The pups have more toys than the child,
I do not think crating him would help him at all as he yelps and cries when the kitchen gate is shut, i had abit of an improvement today, I locked him in there for 20-30mins whilst i ate food, he cried a little at first then lay down and waited, when i went to let him back in he responded instantly to sit, paw, down, which again is a massive improvement.
I do not leave food down as I've only had him 6 days and I really dont want to leave a "flashpoint" situation when im not there to break it up as hes a powerful dog and could easily kill the other 2.

I think I'm going to try the background noise idea tomorrow and see how he gets on with that, I just really want him to get over it because it could cause him to become vicious and that I cant cope with.

Thanks for your ideas mate.
