Hey All!
Just joined, and wanted to get some advice from all you Cane Corso lovers out there. We got our little girl, Kona, at 8 weeks old from a Breeder. She's a beautiful puppy, and has so much personality but we're struggling with a few things. I know most new puppies bring challenges but I don't remember any of my puppies being as stubborn as she!
She is very nippy right now. We chalk it up to teething, and being a puppy, but it starts to scare us knowing she won't be as easy to manage 30-40 pounds from now. We've done the typical re-directing and praise, but it doesn't work for long, she seeks out fingers and toes and has recently started to chomp down on anything she can, as long as it's on your body. I get mixed advice from people on this. To walk away and ignore (never really works, she just follows), to tap their nose and firmly say no or to pin her down until she submits. Whichever we chose to do, it seems she just challenges us. Normal?
Also, did anyone have issues with walking? She won't walk outside with us. It's not the leash, because she'll be on it fine in the house or backyard, but the minute we leave the front door or back gate, she dead weights and pulls backwards. Not being able to properly expend her energy is really wearing on us. She has lots of outbursts throughout the day, and barely sleeps!
Hoping some of you experts can help
