5 months old and her size.

My female English mastiff is now 5 months old and I was wondering about her size. I know she is on the lighter side as far as weight for her age. I am not so worried about weight as frame. She is lean and healthy looking. I feel she will gain more weight when her growth slows down. She isn't an over eater either. She is right at 60 lbs. now.

I just got a rough estimate of her height and length. She wouldn't be too still but I think my measurements are close. She is 23 in at the shoulder and her hind end looks taller even though I measured about the same. I thin I measured 23 or 24 in in lenghth too but that was a little harder that was just to the start of the neck, not sure how to measure that. I read female adult height is 27" and up. How much growing does she have left being 5 months now??

At 5 months she likely still has a lot of growing left. My male EM was almost exactly that size (height and weight) at that age. He was a slow grower and reached a height of about 31.5" around 1 year old. His weight has stabilized it seems around 190 lbs, he's 3 now. Unless both her parents were big it is unlikely she will grow as much as Kryten did but it can happen.

Thanks for your reply. Her dad was 190 and mom we think was close to the same. Her parents seemed huge to me but it was the first time I had been around full grown mastiffs so I had no comparison.

She seems healthy and I'm sure she will be big enough whatever her size lol. I was just wondering about the growth since she is now at 5 months. Trying to get an idea of her future size. Being female I am sure she will be a bit smaller anyway.

from 5 months till 1 year the growth rate in height and weight is pretty impressive...so watch her grow. you will notice spurts in height ...she might seem not gaining any height for a couple of weeks then suddenly you see her grown from one day to another. at around 1 and half year height will stabilize but she will gain some muscle weight until 3 years ...but slowly.
i am not an expert in mastiff growth but i am talking from experience watching volka grow.

Be more concerned with body condition than body weight. Slow and steady growth = healthy mastiff, as they continue to grow until 2-3 years of age. Where does she fall on the body condition chart?

She is definately in the ideal range I beleive. I can't upload pics from my iPad for some reason but if anyone has instagram you can see her at beautifulbryn. We are getting snow here in North Ga and she got to get out and play in it for a few minutes. I've added a video.
