Oh my goodness! You made that??? It is beautiful. What a wonderful tribute to Mateo. <3

Also I don't know how I didn't see this until now.

How are you doing, Suanne? I've missed seeing you post. I miss Mateo with his huge personality and your wonderful photographs. Have you finished Mateo's sculpture the way that you planned? When you do, I hope you'll share it with everyone here.

Thanks, Bailey's Mom. I recently made a cross-country move from New York City to Los Angeles, CA, so am still getting settled here while I look for steady work, et. al. I was in need of a big change (losing Mateo was part of it, but also rising rents/cost of living in NYC, and just in search of more space played into me taking the plunge.) It's a very different world out here!

I am teaching sculpture part time, as well as starting a new commission sculpture of a Dogue de Bordeaux, which I am very excited about. I will post photos of him when I finish the clay sculpting.

The Mateo sculpture moved with me to California, but I have yet to cast it into a final material (will do so when I get a larger studio space, and am able to purchase the materials I am looking for.) In the meantime, it is safe. :)

I miss that boy....and it hurts as much today as ever. In fact, I had a meltdown the other day, sitting in my friend's sun-room, looking over downtown LA, and wishing so much that my big red-haired boy was next to me, sharing this new journey with me, keeping me grounded...and making me laugh along the way.

You are a powerful person Suanne, and even though this is a huge shift in your life, you will be very successful. Your gifts will not go unnoticed and you will have great success. When you've settled in and found a place for your studio, gotten into the swing of things in L.A., maybe you'll have grieved enough to consider allowing another great hearted dog into your life. I hope it will be a Mastiff.

Blessings on you and on your new life,

    Elizabeth

Thank you for such kind words, Elizabeth-- they have such resonance and positive energy behind them. :)

And have no doubt, my next dog will be a Mastiff of some sort (hopefully another Bordeaux; the breed has stolen my heart!)

Can't imagine my life without a 100 + pound big lug by my side...

    Hi Suanne,

Welcome to California. I wish you were up on my end of the state I might be of more help around here and could send job leads your way plus it would be so nice to have a local mastiff loving friend. :)

Mateo was so very special. It hurts my heart to think of a world without him. I am sending all the positive thoughts I have your way.
