No real way to tell for sure if it is a BB, because they have several mastiff breeds already in there gene pool but if you do a DNA and see some lab and many mastiffs that may give you an idea. There are some BBs that are thin and hound like and could look just like that dog with no mix in it at all. Also keep an eye on him around other dogs, he looks like he could have Tosa Inu in him. Tosa Inu are known as Fighting Dogs.

I'm going to talk to the vet tommorrow about him. See if she can give some insight.

You mean the breed areas? Don't worry about it to much, if anything the general sections are better cause more people read them.

Glad you're seeing some good changes - after just 4/5 days, that's GREAT!
Deb's first post has loads of good information.
Can't wait to hear what the vet/behaviorist has to say!

Some other thoughts / brainstorming ideas...
I'd also give him a "den" to go to for alone time. Kinda like a security blanket. Crates are good for that, but if you have a guest room or laundry room with space for a doggie bed, that might be a good, quiet place for him to retreat, too, also.
He looks insecure in the pictures (could just be the pictures), so I'd go with all-positive training techniques (not CM's strong point) and give him lots of things to DO so you can reward it... give him a job... teach him to fetch things (toys, the paper, etc.), have him stay "up close" to you when you do things around the house (a "with me" kind of command) with a 'sit' (so he can supervise :)) and then a good 'stay' or 'place' command would give him some confidence that he's doing what he's supposed to do, and can let someone else worry about the details.

Thanks for taking him in and sticking with it!
It's still really early and he's still trying to figure things out.

When we adopted a 1-year-old bulldog mix, it took 3 months before he would even look at my face - and we did a lot of "look at me" exercises. It took another year, some classes and some really, REALLY good treats (fresh cooked chicken breast) before he really came out of his shell.

Still no fights. I'm so proud of them. I've been much more aware of how I speak and hold myself. He does stay with me I officially have 3 shadows now. He's doing great though. I'm still going to put both through obedience school. Just because.

Were going to start training him on the inground fence. Were actually going to build something to attach to his harness to pull my wagon for the girls for walks. They weigh 60 pounds combined. If you guys think its a good idea.

I'm hoping it won't come to that. We stay outside with them when they are outside, this is just an extra precaution.
