Okay so as many of you know Barron is Rottweiler/Mastiff with his mom being the Rottweiler. I know this because I saw her for myself. Well I was walking him yesterday and a lady stopped me yesterday to tell me how Beautiful he was and ask what he was. I told Her Rottweiler and Mastiff. Well She came back at me with "I am so sorry hunny but he does not have Rottweiler in him at all. Even though he has a docked tail that doesn't mean he has Rottweiler because he isn't Black and Tan." I literally just sat there and blinked at her. Than proceeded to tell her that I saw his mother for myself and she was a Rott and came complete with the Black and Tan hair. Then I asked her what she thought he was (I was curious as to what she could come up with). Her answer: Rhodesian Ridgeback and lab.... :O Uuuuum only if he were using some serious STERIODS! Obviously You don't know a thing!!! Stop talking to me! Lol Anyways I walked off and just shook my head.

I can't swear for all breeds, but for the TM, the black and tan coloring is ressesive. If you breed two black and tans you will ONLY get B&T pups (well, unless both parents carry the even more ressesive solid black), and if you breed a black and tan to aother color dog you'll only get B&T pups IF the other dog carries B&T.

But yes, people are stupid lol

See and this is why I believe Barron's Sire had to be a breed that does not have that Back/Tan or maybe even Black in his Gene Pool or in retrospect has the RED Gene as Dominant. For a Female Rott to not have 1 Black and Tan puppy but all of them be red.... There are some strooooong Genes on Daddies side.

I've had people argue with me over Jiggers being purebred, he's not. I've still got one woman who is adamant that Kryten is a Rottweiler. Personally I've never seen any 160lbs brindle Rotties.

Usually these people that are "offering" up all the free advice/knowledge, and telling you all this stuff about your dog (like you don't know your own dog) are people that don't have dogs, they just see them on tv!! :)

Was talking to a girl the other day at the bar who had a 130 lb male Rottie (he looked it from the pictures...beautiful dog). I told her I didn't realize Rotties got that big (I really didn't) and she told me they typically average 150-200 lbs. That's when she lost me.

130lbs is big was he a little Chunky? I am on a Rottweiler Forum and from what I hear from a lot of them is that their males don't usually go over 100lbs and some keep them toward 90lbs.

He didn't look chunky and I was wrong, he was 120, not 130. I remember now because he was right in the middle of the range below. He looked really good. She had just had him neutered at around two years or so, so she let him mature before snipping him.

When she told me the 150-200 thing I looked it up on Wikipedia (I know it's not the bible) and it said a typical range for male Rotties was 110-130lbs.

Ah gotcha. I guess 120lbs is not bad at all.

It always amazes me at what the "smart" people come up with. I proudly say I hope I never get as smart as you when I speak to one of them and walk away!

I think he's saying he wouldn't be as smart as you and walk away, he'd tell them how idiotic they are.

That's the way I read it, but it's definitely hard to interpret.

K: It translates into: I will never be the idiot that you are and you should be ashamed that you opened your stupid mouth, check yourself!

I had a woman say that she was going to report me for giving my dog steroids because they don't get that big on their own. She didn't like my response of "What are you on?" While she was sputtering in anger I simply said "He's an English Mastiff and breed standard is 150-200 lbs. Go look it up." Then just walked away laughing at the look on her face.

Really? Sorry. I thought you posted a picture of you with a dog and you were a dude with a big beard. I'm either thinking of someone else, or maybe that was your man or a friend?

Found the pic and yeah, it was your hubby, I just can't read. :)

This afternoon I found myself being re-educated on the Breed of dog I have. Silly me thought she was a bullmastiff, apparently not!!! A very strange old bloke came up to me and my 5 year old daughter to "congratulate us on our fine specimen of a Fench Mastiff we have"???* I said thank you but your way off she's a bullmastiff, honesty I saw both parents. Well according to this obvious dog expert I've been wronged she's most definitely not a BM?!? He then started bleeting on about "doing the appropriate research before buying...blah,blah" Having lost the will to live by now I pretended my daughter needed the loo and walked off. When out of earshot my little girl said " mummy that man was so silly wasn't he Lottie is a bullmastiff and dogs can't even speak in French anyway"" lol,!!!!!

We hear the lovely opinions of the general public about our shepherd all the time. She's two and on the low end of the standard but we hear how she can't possibly be purebred because she's not 100lbs and four feet tall. It's ridiculous.

I get that with Apollo. People have this mental image of TMs as these giant huge dogs who're bigger than EMs and as fluffy as chows.....for the moment I've just settled on stating that he's not full grown, donno what I'll come up with when he IS fully mature lol
