Bark box

Hi
I am a new member and new EM mommy. Wondering if anyone has experience with bark box? Is it appropriate for growing 7 month old EM? Also any suggestions for chewing? She has seemed to take a liking for my shoes

It might be better if you tailor the treats to what your pup likes/needs and is appropriate. The puppy is surprised every time you hand him something. The surprise in bark box is for you. You could put it in a carboard box first...then puppy can tear up the box to get his surprise. Cheaper!

By bark box you mean an electronic bark collar? Never used one personally and seems to me that would be a last resort thing. If you have a puppy who barks too much, what triggers it and what do you do?

Chewing, all puppies do it. Allow for appropriate chewing. Restrict access to shoes and other items that ought not to be chewed. If she gets your shoes (or whatever) you failed her by giving her the opportunity. Put them up. Teach take it and leave it and other ground rules.

Also you are not her "mommy." You are her owner and her leader.

There are a couple members on the forum that do use Bark Box (one admits to an addiction) - I enjoy their emails but our boy is a voracious chewer and the couple of boxes we ordered the toys didn't hold up.

Bark box is a monthly delivery of toys/treats for your pup.

I have thought about Bark Box and have wondered if the toys would hold up to Mastiff chewing. I have a 9 month old EM and she LOVES to chew on Nylabones. I buy the biggest one I can find. She has had the same one for a few months and it is holding up pretty good. She loves ropes too. I have to watch her with those. The ones that are shaped like a ball seem to hold together through her chewing. Good luck!

I have BarkBox for my dogs (Doberman and Dane). They generally destroy the toys pretty quickly, but have a lot of fun doing it. They also seem to enjoy the treats, although there have been some weird ones. BarkBox will allow you to exchange for credit items from your box that don't work for your dog. I've done it when they send chews that I don't allow my dogs to have (choking hazard).

It's like getting a present every month, but in my opinion it's pricey and not really worth it. They charge you up front too. If you subscribe to 6 months, they'll charge u for all 6 months up front. They do have great customer service.

Um, I know you can't possibly be talking about me!!....... :)

I love our Barkbox, but I will say that they are sending more and more soft plush toys (looks like they are making a lot of their own now). So if your pup is hard on toys, it may not be worth it. It is a fun surprise every month and they are usually good about including treats (made in the US or Canada) that are relatively limited ingredient and rarely have any chicken products, which is great for the sensitive pups.

Tali and Sid have destroyed every toy they've ever had within one hour, with the exception of a giant rope bone, a certain size of extreme Kong, and the Jolly Ball has made it over a month with just the handle being demolished. Both have food allergies are are picky about treats, so for us it wouldn't be worth it.

Leia is typically pretty rough on toys - most not lasting an hour. I thought it would be a good way to try new/different treats. I appreciate everyone's input and I don't think it would be a good investment for us. Also, thanks for the heads up on paying up front.
For the tough chewers - what is your favorite chew toy? We like nylabones, but are there any other products that stand up to the challenge?

The Extreme Kongs are great. You can fill them with stuff! Our little terrier destroys the big ones. The smaller ones are a chocking hazard for Tali Lou Lou. If you just have the one dog, I highly recommend any larger Extreme Kong for chewy chewy chewers.

My girls love the largest kong stuffed. They love the jolly ball and the chuck it.

My girls chewed the handle off the jolly ball and then lost all interest in playing with it.
