Bedding?

So I am in the process of looking for a different type of bedding for my EM. He currently has comforters that we have bought for him and stacked up so he has good cushion. If it were my choice I would let him sleep in the bed but my husband says no way and I also can't get him up and down from it either. (Bed is super high. I even have to jump to get in.) He also sleeps on "his couch" in the livingroom but since he is still a puppy we gate our room with him in it at night just to make sure he doesn't get bored and rip something up. So far I do have to say he has been super good at not chewing on anything that doesnt belong to him. Never had that problem with him and I have to say I am super luck with that. I would just like a bed that is up off the ground and really comfortable for him. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate that.

Has anyone ever used one of these beds http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/pro...ogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=shopping ?

We don't have one ourselves, but the shelter we adopt from swears by them. They come in all sizes, aren't badly priced, and although they're elevated they're not super-high so as to be uncomfortable. The X-Large "Classic Cot" (44x29) runs just shy of $60, super sizes are more of course. Very similar to the BB&B but they don't seem to be as expensive.

I am interested in them but I really wanted to know what others thought about them and if it worked for their dog. I know my GS/chow mix would do ok cause he is about med. size but didn't know how it would work with a mastiff. Your right though I have heard alot of people say they like them but none of those people I know have large dogs. Since he is so heavy now and only gaining weight I wanted to also know how they held up.

I dont have one, but Ive looked at them. They seem pretty durable. We just use rugs for my dog, and it is hard to get him to sleep in any one place. He likes to follow us around the house and sleep wherever we are hanging out. He has a rug by the front door, the play room, and our room, but he still will sleep in the bathrooms and the boys' room depending on his mood. I guess he is just exercising his freedom. I think it is easier for a big dog to sleep on the floor vs something that is 6 or so inches off the ground. Not only that, but they like to sprawl out when they get comfortable, taking up double their own real estate. I dont remember seeing one that I thought my Corso could sprawl out on, much less a full grown English. Lucky for me, he is 4, and still has the hair on his elbows. I think this is because he has a soft spot to lie in multiple locations.

We had a memory foam mattress topper for our queen bed that my husband hates, so I folded it in half and gave it to Topaz. She LOVES it! And it works great. I put a sheet over it and tuck it around the sides and just wash it weekly. Works like a charm!

Best bed we ever had was a huge pillow that we got at Petsmart. It was big enough, and really thick and not so much that it was uncomfortable if the dog spread out past its borders. Only thing was, it cost $80 and was unwashable. We got rid of it a long time ago, but I remember Lucius really enjoying it.

The bed in your link at BB&B indicates a weight limit of 100lbs. That would be a small EM!

I had just typed in large raised dog beds in google and that was one of the ones that popped up. Not specifically the bed in my link is what I want but something like it. Marrow has a link to the beds that I went and really looked at. It was just an example. I found acouple of them last night that I have really looked more into and they are over 100 lbs.

My dog really likes to lay up on things. Brutus my GS/chow sleeps in our bed and he is such a pain in the butt because he will not move and I don't have the energy to fight with him at night. LOL! Both dogs would rather sleep on the couch or in the bed so am thinking this might be a great alternative. We dont have carpet so the floors are hard and I just want them to be comfortable.

Before the kids came along, Lu would sometimes sleep at the foot of the bed. It was miserable because Im as long as the bed, and I ended up kicking his butt off, to sleep in the closet. We lived in a different house then with wooden floors and tile, so he pretty much stayed on his big pillow. Now he is spoiled and sleeps just about anywhere he wants....except in my bed! LOL.
