That is definitely the style and look I am going for, tight skin, athletic and muscular while also maintaining a large size. Have you had any experiences with any of the breeders you mentioned?p
No real experience with them other than email contact with Americana and with Alcor, and text contact with the former. Both invited me to visit.
Alcor is run by Derek Mattson, who is one of the better known names in the breed in this country. His Corsi are in the pedigrees of many breeders. It was kind of funny, but instead of answering my questions regarding the breed via email, he replied that this was his least favorite part of the business, but if I wanted to visit, we could talk. He used to have a blog active on his website, but the most recent entries are from like 2014.
Americana is run by a younger couple and seems to be the new generation of breeders. You can find semi-regular posts on Instagram from them, and most refer simply to the dogs' looks. Via text, I tried to set up a day and time to have a phone call with Silas of Americana regarding the temperament and health of their Corsi, but he replied with a vague, non-committal answer so apparently he didn't want to be nailed down to a phone call, or maybe he was just busy like so many breeders love to say. I've gotten a better invitation to a phone call from another, different well-known breeder (but they are several hundred miles farther from me!).
Neither of the above breeders seems to do health testing that they are very specific about. You see some allusions to hip scores on Americana's website.
Have you looked at Black Pearl Cane Corso?
