Cane Corso Color

Hi everyone! I'm a New corso owner, and although my baby is correct by standard I have realized that I cannot seem to find another Corso the same color. He is light blue but has small specks of what looks like he may end up light blue brindle. Had anyone seen this color before? And NO he isn't Formentino. His mother and father are both dark blue but some of his siblings have been his color or dark blue brindle. [SUB][/SUB]

I can't help with the coloring but Enzo is a beautiful color. Why is his head taped up in the first pic?

Can you tell me what colour his nose is, in the pictures it looks brown but sometimes my laptop screen doesn't always show the best colouring.

His nose is a blueish purple color. It has gotten darker as he's getting older. It looked a little brownish when I first got him. I'm happy it changed since that's a DQ.i would like to show him

Yes the pictures before the ear crop do look like the nose has brown pigment instead of grey/blue which was a bit concerning.

I don't know that there would be a discriptive term for his colour, he just looks like a washed out grey. If he was brindled and the brindling was more then I would call him reverse (although the AKC doesn't have that as an option).

The standard allows "lighter and darker shades of grey", so he should be good there. What color are his eyes? Other than his nose color thats the other thing that jumped at me looking at the pictures. "yellow bird of prey" and "blue" eye colors are a DQ.

I haven't even sent in his papers yet because I can't decide what to put down as a color. Lol
I would probably call him light blue or maybe light blue brindle. I'll have to see how his stripes turn out.

Cane Corso Breed Standard | American Kennel Club

Color: Acceptable colors are black, lighter and darker shades of gray, lighter and darker shades of fawn, and red. Brindling is allowed on all of these colors. Solid fawn and red, including lighter and darker shades, have a black or gray mask. The mask does not go beyond the eyes. There may be a white patch on the chest, throat, chin, backs of the pasterns, and on the toes. Disqualification - Any color with tan pattern markings as seen in black-and-tan breeds.

:p

His eyes are a greenish/grey. They had some blue in them when I first got him but they have changed quite a bit already. I think they will be more on the green side. Definitely not blue or yellow.
Here is a picture of his dad. I need to get one of his mom and a better one of his dad.

Cause honestly, even with your clarification of his nose and eye color, this is what I see when I look at your pup: http://www.doggenetics.co.uk/photos/isabellaeg4.jpg and thats "isabella", which would be a DQ for a CC in the AKC show ring. If your breeder sold him to you as a show dog you need to have some words with her as that coloration would have obvious before she sold him to you.

He's a cutie, and I"m sure he'll grow up to be a stunning dog, don't get me wrong, but with that brown eye rim and not grey nose and light colored eyes he's going to be DQed in the show ring.

You just might be right. He does look a little red around the eye.his nose isn't brown though. If he can't be shown I won't be upset. He will just be a pet and maybe do obedience competitions instead. That's something I'm interested in as well.

Its not the grey it should be though if he was truly a "blue". But yah, with the brown eye rims alone even if his nose is darker, they're going to consider him to have brown "leather", the genes that control the eye rim color and the nose color are the same (with the exception of piebald color patterns).

Potrero Cane Corso website shows their blue brindle and she is lovely. 4th in the nation I believe. As I remember her, she had a much lighter coat some time ago which perhaps darkened over time?

If the Blues grow in their coat the same way the black brindles do, you an expect some new "tigretto" markings as she gets older. I used to say that Sophie started out all black, but she grew stripes as she got bigger. Hope that helps.

Her blue may or may not have darkened, but if you look at her puppy pictures you can see the MUCH darker (grey rather than brown) eye and nose and even lip leather on her even at a very young age in comparison to Enzo. The same for the other blue dogs on their pages.

Enzo may or may not be a brindle, I don't see striping in the pictures but it doesn't always photograph well, but he's definetly isabella, not blue/grey.
