Carma is really sick ya'll I need some prayers and good vibes. I am not sure what is wrong she has been the vet they did a parvo test and it was negative. She has the runs and is vomiting. They gave me all the supplies to administer iv fluids plus medication. I am so worried, they said its viral but I don't know. She is pooping blood as well. They ran the parvo test plus a fecal as well which turned up nothing.

I just syringe fed her some gatorade and tried giving her some meat but she is not interested at all :(

I would get her on the iv pronto, they dehydrate very quickly when its coming out of both ends at the same time, dont worry about the food rest her insides, for a day or two but liquid is super important. Hope she feels better soon and whatever she has passes quickly.

I got her on the IV they gave me one bag of fluids and told me to only use 2 lines on the bag per day, I am guessing since we are putting it under the skin. I am also mouth feeding gatorade as well but am only doing a 20ml in a setting.

They also gave her a shot to stop vomiting and a dose of antibotics and a steroid. I have to pick up two meds at the pharmacy in a little bit.

Gatorade is good in a pinch but it is loaded with sugar, if your going to the pharmacy or access to a feed store, i use the calf electrolytes it comes in powder form and you only need i think 1 tsp per liter is what i worked it out to and it keeps for a long time. If you cant get that then i would get pedialyte for kids. I would also get some probiotics seeing your giving an antibiotic which kill off the good gut flora as well as the bad. Did they say what kind of virus?

They have no idea, they want to hospitalize her. I am just at a loss. It will be $600 to keep her until Monday and I already paid $200 this morning :(

She has a fever but they gave her meds that interact with tylenol so I can't give her anything for the fever.

I have access to a farm store but I am also going to walmart so which do you think is better, if the calf electrolytes are better I will make the trip for it

Oh god I hope not. I really can't handle all of this. I have not smelled her poop so I do not know if it stinks bad or not since she has been outside but I have other dogs and I don't know what to do.

For gods sake dont give her tylenol, its toxic to dogs, aspirin only. Well the pedialyte is a liquid and probably doesnt last long after opened ,so i myself would get the powder that way you always have some on hand for future use if needed but its your call. How is she acting now, there really isnt anything they will be doing to her that you are already doing, and she may be unsupervised in the evenings, at least at home she has 24 hour care from you. If she seems to be getting worse then i would take her in, just keep her hydrated, check skin constantly by pulling it up and make sure it snaps back, if it doesnt go back into place means she is getting dehydrated.

I am worried for my other dogs. Tubarao is fully vaccinated and my other dogs were too as puppies but they are old ladies now and never leave the house so they have never had a booster. What are the chances of a false negative parvo test? They never said anything about that at the vet.

I got a fila about 5 months ago same thing

Negative parvo test, negative corona, vomiting, dierehea, happened about 8 days after she came home. She was great one minute and the next day she stopped eating and all the symptoms started.

Shucks! Give all your other dogs a booster shot well that's what I did and they didn't get sick. Bleach everything and anything she has came in contact with.

Keep her in a confined room with hard surface flooring that can be mopped with bleach 3-5 times a day. Hydrated, something for the direhea, warm, clean environment with 8:64 bleach mixture as cleaner.

What was she showing before it took a turn for the worst? What symptoms? When was the last time she ate before she hot sick?

Chances of older dogs getting sick is highly unlikely they have already built an immunity to what she has more than likely but I wouldn't chance it.

Parvo test could come back negative and if you re test in five days could come back positive. Your vet seems to be treating symptoms which is the onky thing you can do. Hopefully she is strong enough to pull through. You guys will be in my prayers.

Notify the breeder ASAP!

Feed her plain yogurt now! I've saved a lot of sick pups in the past with parvo with yogurt, amoxicillin, probiotics, Iv fluids, clean clean clean warm environments, anti diarrheal meds, and pain relievers. Nothing the vet will do will be any different than what you can do with buying meds from vet and housing her yourself save the money on the In vet care and use it to buy best meds your vet has to offer.

If you can't afford meds I'll overnight them to you just pm me if you need help.
