Okay, I will try this post again with more info...Zeela has very bad cherry eye, she already had surgery bc they were 2 huge pink balls in the corner of her eyes. Now they are no longer balls but still protrude out, the Vet warned me that it may not work. I have cortizone ointment for eyes, it helps a little. I researched it & have educated myself the best I can. It does not seem to bother her. Don't know what the future will bring, I sometimes wonder if it inflames more bc of an allergy, food, cold weather etc...? Was wondering if anyone had experience with dealing with severe cherry eye.Any info, advice, input on cherry eye?
Thanks trg, I am glad that you never seen it before. I will may take her for a consultation to an animal eye center that we have here in a few months as it costs lots of $$$.Wish I had some advice, but thankfully never seen it before. Poor girl, I hope you all the best.
I do feed her dry food, sometimes with cooked beef, mixed wet foods, she's a very picky eater. I do not want to feed her the raw diet. I really do not think it is caused by a food allergy.Aaaawwww poor baby. What do you feed her? Have you tried raw diet. I've seen dogs with allergies while on kibble. When they've been switched over to raw the allergies seem to go away.
Thanks Tyler, she will be okay, she has me and I will take care of her. She's my #1. I will keep you posted.I‘m really sorry both of you have to go through this. However, you seem to be dealing with the situation extremely well. Good luck at the animal eye center!

Yes, I agree. This is my 1st Mastiff breed. It is amazing how unique Zeela is. I can't even explain it...I am lucky to have her too, I was lost when my pekignese died & I was unsure if I wanted another dog, almost a year later, I was intrigued with the Cane Corso breed so I said I want a big black dog, no kidding, I found a breeder in PA & he had 2 he was giving away for free. I got her the next day & it's been nothing but wonderful! She gives me purpose. Her middle name is Savior, Zeela Savior, she is my savior. A Great & Amazing breed!Perfect, she certainly is a lucky dog!
This observation might subjective, but I‘m always positively surprised about how much the "Mastiff community" loves their dogs. I have never seen this with any other breed(s). I‘m not saying that other dog owners do not love their dogs...

Yes, I had the glands tacked down. They were 2 huge pink balls in the corner of her eyes, size of marbles. If they cut them out than their is no tear production. I don't know what is worse.I’m assuming you had the glands tacked last time? Have them cut out instead. In the meantime, try massaging them back into place.
We do have some animal eye centers here, I called one just for a consultation, yes, it is expensive. I got to save some $ first. Not easy right now for me. I'll figure it out, as long as she is not in pain that is my concern. I will try the massaging and I am getting her more eye ointment from the vet, it seems to calm them down a little. Thank you Boxergirl, she's so amazing, words can't describe.I've massaged them for Frenchies I've fostered. I felt kind of awful doing it because it just looks like it would hurt, but it only seemed cause minor discomfort. Probably because I wasn't very good at it. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Are you considering a visit to the veterinary opthamologist? I know it's expensive to see a specialist. The emergency clinic my daughter works at has visiting veterinary dermatologists and opthamologists. I don't know if you have anything like that around to price check.
I am very sorry that you little girl has that problem dont know what to say give her a big kiss she is beautiful. So, I went to the vet at lunch today to pick up more eye drops for Zeela. I was so disgusted, not happy with my Vet. Going to look for a new one, once again.
You would think he would follow-up to see how her eyes are...frustrating.....
Thank you Kingmark, I will give her a big kiss from you....yes, she is beautiful! We will figure it out, as long as it does not cause pain or interfere with her vision, I am not panicking. She's only 9 months so we shall see....step by step.I am very sorry that you little girl has that problem dont know what to say give her a big kiss she is beautiful.
