Thank you everyone!!! 2nd Chance, a BH is the first leg in IPO, a german dog sport designed for German Shepherds to test for aptitude to do police work . There are three phases, Tracking, Obedience, and Protection. The BH is all heeling as you saw in the video. Now we will go on to the IPO 1, hopefully not this fall, but next fall. We have a lot of work to do!
Kristina who are you training with in MD? I trained for years in the Baltimore area in ScH. The dog looks good and a video is a great teaching tool for trials. I have a couple tips for you if you are interested.
I'm training with Debbie Zappia in NY. Empire Working Dog Club. We don't train here. We go there once a month. Who did you train with? Sure, tips always helpful =). I was happy with how she did, but we definitely need some work on the inbetweens lol, and our about turn
If you are training with Debbie Zappia my opinions are moot. She is a great handler and can tell you all you need to know when it comes to trialling a dog being she was park of the WUSV Team. I trained mainly in the Baltimore area with a couple of guys. A guy by the name of ICE was my helper, Roland was my obd guy. I did train on occasion in DC. I worked with Carlos Rojas, T. Floyd and couple others when traveling around.
