Columbiana (the movie)

SPOILER ALERT!!!
I just saw the movie last night (not great) and was wondering if anyone else has had a chance to check it out? I always like to see mastiff type dogs in movies and the ones in this movie had a starring role. I'm guessing most people here wouldn't be too happy with how the dogs were used. I looked it up and the search results say the two dogs were a Cane Corso and South African Boerboel...well trained dogs and seem to be fed raw:)

How were they portrayed? I haven't been watching much TV or movies lately so I don't really know anything about the movie... I'm guessing they probably stereo typed Columbians as all drug lords/traffickers/growers too??

The dogs were great...super obedient. You're right though, probably not the best portrayal.

Screw it, since there was a SPOILER ALERT...

The dogs are used at the very end to kill the main bad guy (hi and the dogs are in an enclosed van). They're given a command over a cell phone...EAT. Wouldn't recommend the movie but loved seeing the dogs in it.

the movie was pretty good and the dogs are not portrayed in abad light...just obedient dogs being told what to do...not cane corsos though
unless there is yet another variantt now.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I will. Great to know they represent the mastiff in a good light.

I am pretty sure I read that they were CC, am watching the movie tonight, so will say more once I see it.
Lol, @ Dogman, sssooooo many variants in the breed it is almost comical. At times my Boxer makes a better Corso then some I see out there

I'm confused with the talk about all the variants of CC...is there something going on where people are calling their dogs CC when they're not?

Sounds like a movie/tv show (I don't remember which) where there was a pair of dobermans, and the person gave them the command "rosebud" over the phone and they attacked whoever was there with them.

I saw the movie (didn't think it was good). I loved that the dogs were extremely well trained. Also, I don't think they
were Cane Corsos...I'm almost certain they weren't CC's...will double check though.

I thought they were corsos. Beautiful dogs in any case. I thought they were portrayed as well as any well trained dogs, like GSD's, Dobeis, etc. enjoyed the movie but found it forgettable, except for the dogs.

Since it was just meant as a fun movie then so what...but what they're saying is that you can teach these dogs to kill. That's the part that can be seen as a bad portrayal.

I hope not CC, lol. If the one was, it was extremely hyper type, and not a very good example of the breed. I thought it was an entertaining movie, I laughed. What kinda irked me was not the dogs doing what they were trained to do,but the method they were trained to do it with was absurd. The old myth that feeding raw makes a dog blood thirsty was ridiculous. But I don't think the movie even attempted to have any realism so...
