Damian achieved his Schutzhund III. Damian did a super job with a really tough FCI & WUSV World Championship Judge Pierre Wahlstorm http://www.schutzhundaustralia.com/pdf/pierre_wahlstrom_article.pdf . He is also head of the GSD military breeding program in Sweden. This is the first time that he has judged or seen a 120 lb Cane Corso (no prior experience with a Rottweiler either) work. The only breed that he has ever judge has been a GSD. I knew going in that he was no nonsense and would be very difficult to compete under. At this trial there were national level and world team competitors. He told all the competitors at diner that he judges all his trials very hard, especially club trials so, that the handler can learn and grow. He said that under any other judge you can add 10 points to your scores.
He told me that Damian was clear headed with good working drives and great temperament. This meant so much coming from a man that won the WUSV (world GSD championship) in 2007 with a police military service dog.
Damian got a 99 in tracking, 82 in obedience and 82 in protection.
I'm not sure what the next steps are at this point. People from my club are suggesting that I go and compete in the DVG National Championship. I would have to do another Sch III at a DVG club in order to qualify for the DVG Nationals. I was hoping to retire my pup he's now 5 1/2 and that tough physically on a mastiff in a sport that requires top speed and endurance.
Damian is a super Cane Corso he does everything I ask with full gusto.
